4-3
That's two 4 game series wins in a row.
Dave in Hoboken : 4/25/2018 10:18 pm : link
Let's get the series win tomorrow!
*Let's get the *sweep* tomorrow.
Dave in Hoboken : 4/25/2018 10:19 pm : link
I'm tired, hehe.
7-2 on the homestand.
bceagle05 : 4/25/2018 10:21 pm : link
I was hoping for 8-2 - with a Marlins sweep factored in - but however they want to do it is fine.
DIDI...WHAT A PLAY!

.
Gleyber looking studly.
bceagle05 : 4/25/2018 10:23 pm : link
I'd venture to guess he'll be the engine at the top of the lineup whenever Gardy passes the torch.
Solid win, overcoming Sonny Gray being Sonny Gray

Rest of the rotation getting it going helps the bullpen handle games like this

Montgomery for the 4 game sweep tomorrow afternoon!
Nice to see Morrison
dune69 : 4/25/2018 10:43 pm : link
improve his batting average to .113 and slugging percentage to.177 tonight. Who's the moron?
I was out - so
section125 : 4/25/2018 10:48 pm : link
Gray was still nibbling and walking until he was pulled? I see Sano tagged him in the 1st.

Not nibbling. That implies control. Gray can't control his breaking stuff.

Crazy.
I’ve been as big a Gray defender as any
Kyle in NY : 4/25/2018 11:13 pm : link
But even I’ve got to wonder wtf is going on with him. Control was never a major issue for him.

Glad to still get a win despite it. This lineup just wears out pitchers. Wish we could play Minnesota more often
RE: RE: To me it looks like Gray throws as hard as he can

and as a small guy maybe he can't do it with control. And lets not confuse his stuff with the likes of Ron Guidry. Maybe he should take a touch off his fastball and hope he gains more control. Otherwise he is pen bound after a few more starts a la Harvey

No disagreement on your first point. But it's not the fastball that's the problem, it's throwing his breaking stuff for strikes.

I just don't think he's starter material -- unless he's hurt or something. Is he?
Gray was 3rd in Cy Young voting in 2015
mfsd : 4/25/2018 11:41 pm : link
It’s not like the guy couldn’t pitch in the past. Whether physical, or the pressure of NY, or something else, he’s really lost it since he came to NY.

I never watched him pitch much when he was in Oakland, but as far as I know he’s always been a big curveball pitcher...so until he figures out how to throw one more than 55 feet consistently, we can probably expect more of these kind of starts.
In his interview tonight after the game...
manh george : 4/25/2018 11:50 pm : link
Gray just didn't appear to be confident.

Yeah that was painful to listen to.
Gray blows. He just doesn't have any balls. Nibble fucking nibble

* Was Stanton this bad in RF in MIA? I houhgt last night was a really poor showing by him. Not just the obvious awful misplay in LF. But in the inning before, what a terrible at bat after the Didi bunt base hit. 2 on 2 out, 2 HORRIBLE, fishing expedition swings at terrible pitches. It's not so much the K, but the lack of discipline and situational awareness. Why are you hacking at garbage when you have Sanchez, Austin and Adujar coming up behind you? Take the walk and pass the baton. You're on a winning team now.
* I'd hate to move him, but maybe let Judge play LF and Stanton RF until GS gets more acclimated?? I think Judge could play anywhere.
* I LOVED the Didi bunt!! I wish more teams would do that. I would help keep the defense honest and put a little fun back into the game.

He just might be one of those guys who doesn't work in a big market area on a team with expectations. It's easy to be calm in Oakland. Nobody is watching.
