Assuming trade with Bills we pick 12th,

chopperhatch : 4/25/2018 8:04 pm
And "blue chip" names Nelson, Chubb, all four qbs, Barkley, Fitzpatrick and Edmunds are all gone, who is your favorite pick?

Vita Vea- might be the sleeper for most effective player to be drafted and our transition to 3-4 concepts give us a MONSTER D line of Vea/Snacks/Tomlinson for years.

Marcus Davenport- like, but dont love him for 3-4 stuff. Could prob add mass....would love this guy for a straightt 4-3 end

Mike McGlinchey- guy screams reach to me. But has prototype size and comes from a good O line system and we have a need. Hes a LT....

Derwin James- probably the only guy that rivals Vea to me as far as a fringe blue chipper. Centerfielder...would augment Collins at safety.

The prospect of moving down to this spot was originally not sexy at all, but there are some guys on this list that could be getting slighted because of Chubb, Fitz, Nelson and Barkley and the idea of getting the Bills' first next year is a deal sealer for me.

Please feel free to post who you would select with the second 1st.

Please feel

Vea would be great...

Do we get pick 22 as well?
I would take Vea if he falls that far
Steve in South Jersey : 4/25/2018 8:12 pm : link
but I would want more than 12 + 22 to move down that far.

12 + 22 + next years 1...pretty much a no brainer.
If Smith were still there
jeff57 : 4/25/2018 8:14 pm : link
I would take him.
We have a need at LT?

McGlinchey would play RT.
Who would be there?
Reale01 : 4/25/2018 8:17 pm : link
You get a good player at 12 and a good OL at 21 three good players in Round 2 including an RB.

XJosh Rosen
XSam Darnold
XBaker Mayfield
XJosh Allen
XSaquon Barkley
XBradley Chubb
XQuenton Nelson
XMinkah Fitzpatrick

In play for Giants
Derwin James
Roquan Smith
Vita Vea
Denzel Ward
Tremaine Edmunds
Marcus Davenport
Josh Jackson

I like Vea, James, Smith, and Ward in that order.

At 21
One of the above drops, a WR, or
Mike McGlinchey
Will Hernandez
Leighton Vander Esch
Isaha Wynn
Darious Guice

We would get two very good players (or said to be good).

Plus three round 2 picks and a 2019 #1. Seems like a good deal unless you LOVE the player at #2.
I'd
AcidTest : 4/25/2018 8:17 pm : link
also draft Vea, but I'm not sure he'll be there at #12. Davenport would be my alternate option.

Correct. Wasnt specific enough. Watching the Yanks and draft coverage at same time.

If we drafted McGlinchey he would kick over to RT and potentially be LT going forward once Solder retires. Plus he has LT experience and can fill in in case of injury.

McGlinchey at 12 provides quite a bit of value when you think about it.
Yeah, Ward is another one
jeff57 : 4/25/2018 8:20 pm : link
I would consider. But Smith would be my first choice.

I havent heard too many linked to him. Maybe Miami at 11?

We're staying at 2. We're not moving back.
I'd be tempted to cluster draft
Go Terps : 4/25/2018 8:22 pm : link
I know it's a pipe dream, but I'd love for this team which has no discernible identity to use this draft to begin to define itself going forward into the end of the Eli era and beyond.

Some scenarios (including our pick #34):

Offensive Line Scenario
#12: OT Connor Williams
#22: OG Isaiah Wynn
#34: OG Braden Smith

Defensive Front 7 Scenario
#12: DT Vita Vea
#22: EDGE Leighton Vander Esch
#34: EDGE Kemoko Turay/Harold Landry

Defensive Back 7 Scenario
#12: S Derwin James
#22: CB Mike Hughes
#34: EDGE Kemoko Turay/Harold Landry

Offensive Skill Position Scenario
#12: QB Lamar Jackson
#22: WR DJ Moore
#34: RB Sony Michel

Cool. Thanks for participating with the hypothetical implied with the thread title.
Connor Williams at 12?
jeff57 : 4/25/2018 8:24 pm : link
Wouldn’t take him at 22. Don’t know if I’d take him at 34.
Thanks Terps and Reale
chopperhatch : 4/25/2018 8:24 pm : link
Thats what I was looking for.
Harold Landry
One Man Thrill Ride : 4/25/2018 8:28 pm : link
will be a hot commodity.

Thrill thinks he goes top-20 and would be smart arbitrage play on Chubb. Definitely an NYG target if they consider a trade.
Truth be told I am pretty much okay with
chopperhatch : 4/25/2018 8:35 pm : link
Darnold, Rosen or Barkley at 2. But if Buffalo offers us both firsts this year and their first next year (we would probably have to send a pick or two their way....or maybe this is where the Flowers talk has been coming from), I think that suddenly become my favorite option.

Only one that possibly trumps that is that deal with Cleveland for their first 2 2s to swap 4 and 2.

12 Vita Vea
22 Will Hernandez
34 Smith or Wynn
I soooo want this trade to happen
IIT : 4/25/2018 8:41 pm : link
We need an infusion of upper tier talent at multiple positions. All of these hypotheticals look better than whatever's on the table at two.

I would be grinning ear-to-ear if we got Vea at 12 and McGlinchey at 22.
Easy in my mind
Dan Blue : 4/25/2018 8:42 pm : link
Take highest rated offensive lineman and highest rated defensive player on your board. That’s the easy way. You could go best player available regardless of position with these two picks. Not really too bad either way because we have so many holes to fill. Hope it works out with two picks in the first.

Agreed - Best is we end up with #4 and extra picks either in straight deal with Browns or three-way with Bills. We draft Barkley, Chubb, or Nelson and move on.

After looking at the options at 12 and 21 I kind of like that trade down as well.

Will be pretty frustrated if we miss the opportunity to make a killing.

Instead of 2019 #1
.McL. : 4/25/2018 8:46 pm : link
Would anybody consider kicking the can a bit further down the road and getting a 2020 #1?

Next year the QB class is supposedly weak. Perhaps having draft capital in 2020 would be better...

I suppose you can always trade out of the 2019 pick to a 2020 one...
no, I want the 2019 #1
IIT : 4/25/2018 8:52 pm : link
The Bills will be starting a rookie. That pick will be a good one. By 2020 the Bills might actually be good and that pick won't be as tasty.

I can almost guarantee that the Bills pick in the top five next year. But the Bills probably know that and would want another of their 1sts this year at the least. But if thats the case, we hold tight to 2.
Vea at 12......
Ed A. : 4/25/2018 8:53 pm : link
and Hernandez at 22. Then the best possible players with the 2 second rounders.

Good point...
Vea doesn't sound
madgiantscow009 : 4/25/2018 8:55 pm : link
bad to me either.
Vea, Hernandez, Hughes, and Billy price
Jint Fan in Buc Land : 4/25/2018 9:08 pm : link
In the first two rounds with another first next year would have completely ruining my undies!!!
Connor Williams at 22 would be great
uconngiant : 4/25/2018 9:09 pm : link
Vita or Rosen "who could drop this far" and Williams at 22 would be excellent picks.
I would think the Giants would only get one of Buffalo's second-round pick along with next years first round pick.
I'd take Roquan Smith(12) and Justin Reid(22)
ghost718 : 4/25/2018 9:11 pm : link
.
passing on Smith at 12 would be...
Nysportsfn13 : 4/25/2018 11:27 pm : link
insanely dumb if he's there. The guy is a top 8 talent in this draft.
With the picks
giantstock : 4/25/2018 11:40 pm : link
I woudl go with the folwoing positions unless soemthing extreme happens in terms of BPA.

1-- The 12th pick take Vita Vea.

2-- Take two Offensive linemen with the next 2 picks.

3-- The next 2 3rd rd picks take a CB and RB or vice-versa.

***I'd consider pushing back the 3rd rd pick of CB for another Offensive Linemen just so we could "show" Matt Ryan (or Bridgewater if he shows he's really good and the Jets don't resign him because they like their young QB) he'd be in good hands. Give Matt Ryan "Manhattan."

In this scenario even Collins isn't "safe."
Run to the podium
Jay in Toronto : 4/26/2018 5:53 am : link
For James.
I'd try to trade up a few spots from 12 to draft
Ira : 4/26/2018 6:23 am : link
Roquan Smith. He'd fit Bettcher's defense like a glove and would be the first impact linebacker we've had for too long.
