But he isn’t pitching them too high. Huge adjustment mechanically and it’s working. Question is does Matz buy into it? Is he OK with the two hard balls right at his OF? Is he happy with that one cheap hit just now - he should be.
That was 110% on Flores.
But typical Matz melt down here answers my questions from a couple minutes ago. Cheap hit, he loses it. An “error” and he can’t throw a strike...
quintessential Matz inning. He just loses it and can't seem to find it. All self inflicted with the bad throw to first. Gotta get this last out before more damage.
The bad throw by Matz (that was equally Flores's fault) Â
yet I feel like this is a house of cards (no pun intended) ready to collapse. Matz, Harvey and Wheeler are all apparently healthy and yet none of them are stepping up. I would have bet in March that if healthy at least 1 and maybe 2 would become a solid part of this rotation.

Harvey is no longer in the rotation. We need Matz, Wheeler, and Vargas to be decent backend starters.
Im ready to start tearing up my house with this game. Fuck.

I hear you Z but truth be told I am at the point where I have ZERO faith in Wheeler or Matz, let alone Harvey.
I think we needed at least 1-2 of them to be good if we are going to get through a 162 game season.
5 starts for Matz. Harvey demoted to be bullpen. What’s the plan?
The plan is to get Vargas back... Let MatzWheeler go for at least a few more starts each because unlike Harvey they actually look healthy... You still have a bunch of other options. You can slide Lugo/Gsellman to the rotation and move Wheeler/Matz to the pen... I actually think Oswalt could probably be a 5th starter. Lots of options as the season moves a long and if all fails get a starter at the deadline.
Lobaton (who is awful) is not the problem with this team. Neither is Nido. And getting Realmuto isn't going to solve the problem either even if we rob the Marlins in the trade, which we won't anyway.
the rotation already. Preferably Gsellman. Back up the shuttle with all these relievers that some are pumping up and get real about winning. Harvey is already out of the rotation. Good. The jerk wouldn’t even talk to reporters after his first relief outing. Proving to still be a douchebag. Matz doesn’t have the mental toughness to be a starting pitcher. I can roll with Wheeler a bit longer and also we’ll get Vargas back.
A stud bullpen doesn’t mean shit of this is what we are getting from 3 of our starters.
And when is the offense going to start? Any day now.
If Alonso keeps raking like he is they are going Â
to have to promote him to AAA before long and then it will get really interesting. Do Alonso/Smith split 1B? Can Alonso leapfrog Smith? You cant keep elite right-handed power buried like that for long if he's hot like that.
But the fact remains that our fears regarding the depth of this starting rotation are still very real. This front office has essentially been hostage to the potential of these three guys for 3 years now with little or nothing to show for it.
I think you have to give wheeler/matz one more turn through rotation and then figure out which of Lugo/gsellman you want to take out of the bullpen. It sucks because you are weakening what has been a strength but this team can’t survive back to back 4 inning starts every week. Then, if by some grace of god we are still in a decent position come late June we will have to trade for a starter. Who knows maybe Dickey would come out of retirement for 3 months or we can sign peavy who will be available the end of may. I don’t really see much help in farm and frankly don’t think Oswalt or Flexen are MLB caliber yet (hope I am wrong).

Wacha throwing 97 mph tonight. Geez.
Nice little inning here.
Bruce salt and peppering his broken bat nub.
Knick one in a gap, Flores!
Cmon

Do they have to do this every fucking time we play the Cardinals ?

JT Realmutto. Whatever it takes
That seems to be the major problem with him more than his actual stuff.
