At the 34 second mark ....

"Three truths" - run the ball, defend the run, rush the passer.

Does that not scream Barkley ?
Or Chubb... or Nelson...
Big Blue Blogger : 4/26/2018 12:21 am : link
...or a bunch of other guys like Vea, after a trade.
Jesus..

The pick will be Josh Rosen

They absolutely love him and they think he's the highest rated prospect they've seen come out in years.
Considering 2 out of 3 of those

Have nothing to do with YOUR running back...no I wouldn't say it necessarily screams Barkley
I suspect Gettlemanwould tell you his "big mollies" are more important
baadbill : 4/26/2018 12:33 am : link
to running the ball than the identity of the running back.
We draft Barkley #2, half of BBI explodes with excitement,
SHO'NUFF : 4/26/2018 12:37 am : link
DG turns around and trades Barkley to Cleveland for Chubb and a bunch of picks.
Im just a nobody
sharpshooter66 : 4/26/2018 12:37 am : link

That's why you're a nobody. You don't know nothing anymore than any of us.
I liked Gettleman until..

Tonight
YANKEE28 : 4/26/2018 12:56 am : link
Dave Gettleman relaxed and took 12 members of his scouting department to the Yankees game.

They were guests of Brian Cashman and Lon Troast.

Perhaps a lesson for some very anxious Giants fans.

Might as well have been watching some horses he owned run a race. Asleep at the wheel prick.
Buffalo has been screaming QB all offseason.
SB 42 and 46 and ? : 4/26/2018 2:49 am : link
They traded their best O-Lineman to get the 12th pick.

The traded last season's starting QB who got them to the playoffs for the first time in 18 years.

All they have are two backup QBs.

But will they trade with the Giants? Probably Buffalo trades down to four or five first and then moves to two.. Giants need more than two firsts and a second for a move all the way back to 12.

Buffalo has stockpiled the draft picks to trade.

If this is finally the season they draft Kelly's replacement, they should move down to two and have their choice of every QB except one. At four or five, they might get stuck with one they're not really that high on.
Its possible
sharpshooter66 : 4/26/2018 3:53 am : link
but after the Jets, if the Giants dont go QB, the Bills could pick from 2 of either Rosen, Mayfield, and Allen without trading to 2... I think thats their play unless Darnold drops
LOL!
mdthedream : 4/26/2018 6:13 am : link
It just tells you what he wants from his team. That said he needs a QB to win. So who knows whats going to happen.

It's not 1975 and passing the football and stopping the pass are more important than running the football and stopping the run.

Bingo. This would scare me a bit about Gettleman, except that I don't really believes it. He just likes cliches. He knows that running exists to facilitate the passing game, and stopping the run is important primarily in that it makes the passing game tougher.

I think he does take Barkley, because he's more than just a runner. He will help the passing game both indirectly and directly.

I think if Buffalo gets to 4 they'll try their best to get to 2 and pick their QB before the Jets can pick one. It's quite possible they're both interested in the same guy.
DG has never traded down

I can't remember Being less stressed. You work should be stressful. Or life issues. Not this stuff. We should get a great player. Time to put down the draft guides and grab a beer
Picking a Running Back over a QB with the #2 pick
Jimmy Googs : 4/26/2018 8:02 am : link
makes zero financial sense, in a salary cap league, unless the RB is the only good player to take at that spot.

And even if he was, the team is better off just getting out of that spot and accumulate additional picks.

Of course you have to find a trading partner, but its only been around 100+ days since we locked it in so don't tell me we ran out of time.

Oh and by the way, signing a 31-year old RB and giving him $3M+ makes zero sense as well.

Trust Gettleman?...we'll see.
Hmmm?
Beer Man : 4/26/2018 8:18 am : link
Barkley can certainly run the ball. But can he defend the run and rush the passer?
For all the people who say Barclay is the "safe" pick
WillieYoung : 4/26/2018 8:21 am : link
If Gettleman takes him and he wears out or gets hurt and the Jets get a franchise QB with the next pick, Gettleman will be unemployed.

Seriously? You honestly think Gettleman doesn't know what he's talking about? LOL ... that takes an incredible amount of narcissim. I mean holy shit.

Did it ever occur to you that Gettleman believes the best way to pass the ball is to have the horses to force the other team to honor the run?

He didn’t say he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. At all. What he said is he’s purposefully speaking in cliches, like all coaches and quarterbacks also do. Because why would a GM during draft season tell the world how he wants to build a team?
