An Annual Draft Day Tradition: Jets Draft Day Blunders

pjcas18 : 4/26/2018 8:04 am
I could watch this all day on repeat. So classic.

"everybody said if Marino was around at that time they'd take Marino. Obviously the Jets know something that the people up here don't" - random fan after the Ken O'Brien pick.

Rozelle's smile/pause after saying "fullback.....Roger Vick Texas A& M"

Now that the draft is not in NY every year anymore I'm afraid this may not grow.

My favorite part of the Roger Vick pick

was not only the pause, but during the pause, you hear an anguished Jets fan yell out "Oh No!!!"
Yeah, I have been watching the draft since then and

the Giants have their fair share of blunders too.

Every decade...every few years....
After the Lageman pick there is
pjcas18 : 4/26/2018 8:12 am : link
a fan taunting the Jets jumping up and down laughing.

Kiper also has a famous nugget: "it's obvious to me the Jets just don't understand what the draft is all about"

the Berman anguished "ohhhh" can be heard several different years after picks.

It's just a great video, this should be the movie they made about the draft, screw the Costner movie draft day, this would have been hilarious. If SNL can turn a 2 minute skit into a movie all the time, why can't someone do that for this.

Of course, every team probably does, but I haven't seen any others immortalized like this in video.

and it's the J-E-S-T JEST JEST JEST, it's fun to laugh at them.
The Johnnie Mitchell pick

and crowd reaction immediately segue into the we want Sapp chants and then the Jets take Kyle Brady. Also a great sequence.

at #2 Blair Thomas RB Penn State?
.

What was wrong with Jeff Lageman? He was a good player

Leon Hess himself vetoed Warren Sapp. Everybody wanted Sapp. Even idiot Kotite was quoted days before saying "I gotta have this guy" Hess ordered us not to draft him.

Blair Thomas was never the same after fumbling in Chicago on MNF in 1991. He was ok as part of RB rotation. Kept injuring his hamstring it seemed. Bust

I wonder if it was Shula and the fish spreading rumors on Marino to get him to drop to them

Roger Vick. Inexcusable garbage. Harris Barton and Bruce Armstrong go immediately after
