Many of us have been here since "Pete's Corner", this is one of the biggest moments in my time as a Giants fan, hoping we get a great player/person that my kids can root on for the next decade.
The kid is special....if they take him....true Giants will enjoy watching him...trust me....he is fun to watch.
But this team needs more then a great RB.
Trade down....I hope Elway loves Darnold...I was happy to hear the Standford coach feels Darnold is special....if Elway pulls the trade up.....the night will be very good.
RE: RE: My confidence in this franchise is going to be deeply shaken
If after the last five years of chasing one more run, theyre going to try again.
Are you saying that if they draft the best player in the draft in Barkley? That is what will shake you?
Its not at all about Barkley. Its about continuing the same thought process that got them to 3-13 in the first place. Its about continuing to believe that you are x player away from being a contender when youre not. Any move being made to prop up a 37 year old QB on a short term contract is short term thinking, and short term thinking is why this roster is a mess. RB is not the valuable position here.

I was thinking of a way to say this, but Ten Ton said it better than I would have.
More than just the player, this pick is a window into the thought process of the front office.
Sources with the Bills say that Buffalo is looking to trade into the 4-7 range. Likely for Josh Allen or Josh Rosen. The Giants wanted too much for the No.2-overall pick. Buffalo could give up the 12th, 22nd, second-round pick and maybe a third.
says the Giants are unanimous about who to draft at #2. The assumption is that it's Barkley. They also repeated Shurmur's claim that the Giants plan on making the pick.
As I've said, no non QB is worth more than Barkley, Chubb, or Nelson plus picks from a trade down. And if Darnold is on the board, there will certainly be a lot of takers.
Gettlemen might be a little sentimental toward Eli

Sounds like the offers are that great. Bills only want to trade 12, 22, 2nd rounder, and 3rd rounder. That isn't close to enough and I heard they don't want to trade the future. Who else can afford to trade up that far. Giants aren't trading. They are picking and it will be Barkley, Chubb, or a QB

DG never trading down scares me. He is so old school that unless he basically robs you he stays true to his board. He could possibly miss out on great value by trading. Doesn't sound like his MO

Denver might come up from #5 for Darnold, but I agree that's not enough to move from #2 to #12. I don't want to drop that far anyway.
Why does it have to be a win now move? If you believe hes the best player in the draft, you take him. What has gotten this franchise in trouble is overvaluing guys like Flowers, Richburg, and Pugh. Then, you add in the fact that top picks like Phillips, Nicks, and Wilson had their careers shortened by injury. Even a guy like Cruz was thought to be a cornerstone and got hurt. No team can survive losing top guys like that.
You become a winner again by adding top players to your roster. Take the best player on your board.
that this has been the most intriguing draft that I've ever seen. Nobody has any idea what is going to happen. There is still 3-4 guys in play for the top pick, and tons of teams trying to move around. The NFL has hit the nail on the head in terms of making the draft a huge event.
RE: We're going to pass on that trade package to pick a RB?
Trading down to #12 is/should be a "NO GO". Any trade should still result in them being able to land Barkley/Chubb/Rosen/Nelson. Otherwise, we're trading quality for quantity.

I don't understand that line of thinking either. It's not like Barkley is a 24 year old prospect either. He is 21 years old. He won't turn 30 until the off-season leading into his 10th season...
It's better to have the right player for 6-10 years than picking the wrong guy because you think he can be your guy for 15-16 years.

Yep. I hope they take whoever they deem as the best player in this draft. Forget about win now, draft the guy everyone in the front office thinks has that hall of fame potential.

I also have Vea and Smith in same tier as Chubb, Rosen, and Nelson, but the possibility that all are gone by 12 is concerning. Vea, Snacks, Tomlinson would be a hell of a DL, but it is definite step down from #2. Not sure we would be getting a much better player at #22 as #34. The 2019 1st has to be included.
But we're witnessing one of the most historical moments in franchise history. This is big.
Oh my gosh calm down! hahaha
This was the worry with staying in-house (and I consider Gettleman an in-house pick).
We'll see what happens. But I like your expansion team analogy.

any insight into the giants thinking?

I like Gettleman and he seems extremely competent to me, but that was my concern with hiring him as well.
Plus a fuckin million
yes, tommorrow 6

Gonna stay positive I wouldn't mind a trade down for a boatload of picks though

Nope... only thing I heard is what others have reported...high on Barkley and Chubb.

The fact that we are 40 min. From the Giants drafting and not really sure what will happen is a good start
Maybe he should skip that advice lol.

Completely agree! This draft is going to set the tone for the next 5 years at least

Sorry offers aren't* that great.
Chubb doesn't have elite bend, and seems better suited for a 3-4.
Nelson is a guard, and this draft is loaded with interior linemen.
I don't want to drop to #12, but I hate the fact that the Giants just stubbornly refuse to ever trade down. Reese never did so, and neither has DG.
