A perspective.....The Bengals, Bills, Browns, Cardinals, Chargers, Falcons, Jaguars, Lions, Panthers, Texans, Titans and Vikings have not won a Super Bowl in their history. If you gave them an option of long term stability or a 2 to 3 year window to win a Superbowl, which would they take? I think they would want to take their shot, and take it NOW. I’m torn but I think Gettleman made the right choice. Some teams despite all their planning have never won. QB and all. If the Giants brass think this team has one shot at it, it’s worth taking.
I’ll be honest, once Mayfield went I thought we were getting Donald. I was 50/50 like most of you...but look it from this perspective. Chargers have Rivers, Falcons…..Matty Ice, Matt Stafford, Cam Newton etc. = NO SUPERBOWLS! There is no award for being good every year. Plus, If the Patriots drafted Kyle Lauletta, we would be reading about the genius of Bill Belichick! We had a GOOD DRAFT, especially with 6 picks.
Now If Eli turns senile, Barkley blows out his ACL and Darnold wins the SB MVP they will look bad but nothing is guaranteed, If the game was that predictable, WE WOULDN'T WATCH IT! This franchise has hit some mediocre times, but it is a solid organization that looks like it has sent itself back in a good direction. Good ownership, GM who has convictions (balls) and sticks to a plan, a head coach who is entering his prime, young emerging DC, and good talent in key positions. WR and CB need help and we lack depth, but we are better than we were a week ago or a month ago. We need to avoid injuries and add a few players. But, for this year, this is our best shot...let’s go GIANTS…….take it!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHa.....Yea nice one
Will they be better with Barkley at RB and OBJ returning? Absolutely! But there are two many holes on this team for them to be serious contenders.
And 37 yr. old QBs in a two-year decline typically don't bounce back with a good year.
My guess is that Eli will be replaced by one of the young QBs before year's end and the Giants will finish with 6 or 7 wins.
Just remember, new OC and DC, new systems, could take a few weeks to a month to get flowing.
It does have that vibe to it. I remember when all the same clowns here laughed at Eli when he said he felt like he was an elite QB in the same class as Tom Brady.

Let me know if Eli says this one again during the offseason...
I don't feel 2011..but it would be nice.
I know I shouldn't be surprised but I always am when the BBI football experts scoff at the real experts! And,most of them have probably already ordered their #26 jerseys! SMFH
But yet, its probably some % of both. Albeit a more healthy dose of the latter...
On the other hand, if you look at the list of elite running backs over the last 2 decades, you will see a considerable amount of them last 10+ years. Saquon is aiming to be one of those RBs and he does not take many big hits.
“He’s been in the league (10) years at a position where the shelf life for a running back is not that long, and I want to know how you do it,” Barkley said. “I want to pick your brain. I want to watch you. I want to see the things he does and the way he takes care of his body, what time he’s in and what time he’s out. Try to compete with him, obviously learn and try to take it to another level to try to improve my game and improve my longevity of the game. That’s the whole thing about running back, it’s how long can you do it? You can run for 100 yards for the first four games, but can you keep that up when your body gets the wear and tear. Especially from going from college football straight to Combine training and then straight to rookie minicamp to minicamp and camp itself, it’s such a long season and how do you do it? He’s been doing it for so long that that is definitely the first thing I will try to pick his brain on and just watch him.”
You can't tell me that if Saquon last 10 years in a Giants uniform, that he wont impact the play of the whole offense for the better in that time period. No matter WHO is at QB.
You can reference AP's career with the Vikings. Peterson was the driving force behind 2 10 win seasons with Gus Frerotte and Christian Ponder, a 12 win season with a 40 year-old Brett Favre, and an 8-8 season with Tarvaris Jackson. He was the ONLY weapon in those offenses, unless you want to count Sidney Rice and Percy Harvin.

You had running backs like Darkwa and Gallman averaging over 4 yards a carry behind last years OL. Do you think this year's OL is worse than last years? I find that hard to believe.
Also, Barkley was doing all of those amazing things last year behind a subpar OL. A great running back makes the OL look better.
No, Britt did...

Thus Eli nor the OL make Barkley or OBJ better. Qithout a very good OL and good QB- you have to relaize many of us don't think G-men have much of a chance.

1-- Your 1st question is comepletely irrelvant. WHo said the OL wasn't better? Last year's OL was awful.
2-- What's the point of your RB comments? Are you trying to say the Giants OL was good then? If the stats you cite have any meaning then why did the OL need to be rebuilt?
IMO you are using these stats for the wrong reasons to justify your hope that the OL is good. If the 4 yd per carry stats had any meaning then it would probably mean the OL was blocking well. If they were blocking well, then more than likely you wouldn't have had to do such a major rebuild.

There is a very good argument that can be made that Fluker should have been in teh starting lineup since Day 1. I truly think the OL improved as the season went on. Unfortunately, you still had a major liability at LT, which has now been upgraded.
How is the first question irrelevant? You said the OL wasnt good, and I think its improved over last year. Even if this OL improves from bad to average, Eli and this offense have a very good chance to succeed. Pretty simple.
