Ogletree or Goodson, who wears the Mic.

Listening to a Dave-Te' Thomas podcast with Ed valentine of Big Blue View, Dave-Te states Ogletree's team mates feel he had a down year last year because he wore the microphone helmet. They felt it slowed him down. Dave thinks Goodson should wear it and let Ogletree play his game. Ed informed Dave that's not what the Giants have been doing in camp. Ogletree still wearing it. I hope the Giants figure how to go about this.

Ogletree is the leader of the LB group which is another reason why I loved the trade as he was a team captain with the Rams on a star studded defense.

I think he's gonna be our best LB since ... along long time ago. I think for 3-4 years this guy will outperform Pierce, Barrow, Boley and all others since the new millennium

How would the speaker slow a player down?

First of all, there's no microphone - and that goes for the QB as well - so there's no conversation happening, just listening. Secondly, the speaker is cut off with 15 seconds remaining on the play clock (or, presumably, when the ball is snapped), so I'm not understanding how it would make Ogletree slower to react to what's happening on the field.

Obviously, he won't be the MIKE in a traditional 3-4. Part of the advantage of the hybrid defense is to confuse the QB about who the MIKE is on each play. When in a 4-3, if Goodson is in the game, Ogletree will be OLB.

For sure, though, Ogletree will be a 3-Down LB.
