In 2017 Shepard played in only 11 games and put up 731 yards.
That averages out to about 66 yards per game.
If he were to have played a full 16 game schedule , that would have given him an additional 330 yards.
If we were to have added those yards to his numbers , means he would have put up a 1,000 yard recieving season.
Seems like a nice addition to our wr corps..
Just wanted to share...
How long will it take though? Will Eli still be playing when it happens?
Engram - 1000
Saquon - 500
Eli is going to throw for about 4,500 yards this year
But he has to stay on the field, he has to make the tough catches, and take that next step up.....with OBj out, he was just an average WR.....
I'm not even sure what the point of this thread is - did you think that we didn't know who Shepard was? Or do you just have a pathological need to start a thread per day?

Gatorade , I feel sorry for you , I really do.
I mean , if you had an IQ above 70 maybe you would have figured out exactly what my post was bringing out.
But that was probably too hard for you.
Secondly , the word "addition" is defined as "anyone or anything added"
So yes , since 2016 when he was drafted , Shepard has been a nice addition to this team.
I hope you have a nice night...
Oh and one more thing, don't think too hard we don't want you burning up too many brain cells , since we know you don't have a whole lot to spare.
Take care big guy
You must be a fun drunk. I feel bad for your kids and wife. Go sober up.

Putting up <990 yards as the nominal #1 receiver isn't particularly exciting. Shepard has the makings of a nice complementary piece, but let's pump the brakes a bit.

Right, I'm the one lacking IQ and brain cells, while you trotted out daily Davis Webb threads leading up to the draft, recently tried to mount a case in defense of Geno Smith, never post on any threads other than your own streams of consciousness, and can't figure out proper comma usage.
Nice try, little man.

He may be best in the slot but can play outside as well.
I think the "disappointment" come from some fans setting unrealistic expectations for every player we draft. Just go up a couple of threads and you will see discussion about how Lorenzo Carter compares favorably to several first round picks from years past. He is a 3rd round pick, but there will be people who are disappointed in him if he doesn't put up 12 sacks this year because they already believe he is some sort of top shelf pass rusher every other team simply overlooked for some weird reason.
Great players come out of later rounds every draft, and it's cool to be high on incoming rookies. But it also helps to remember guys get passed over for a couple rounds in the draft for a reason. Hope they become stars but realize that those expectations are not completely realistic.

Shepherd is an excellent #2 and complementary slot receiver to Odell. The issue becomes when you lose Odell because Sterling is not an ideal #1 or downfield threat.

Not every position on the field is going to be a game breaker. He is steady and reliable which is good when you already have a game breaking WR and possibly TE.

That is where a good coach from an X's and O's point comes in. A good coach can scheme things differently to at least in some way minimalize the impact of losing such a player
Steve smith produced a lot of stats in 09 as the Giants were in flux at position. Bad news if Giants need a guy like Shepard to match that production because it means Barkley and Odell and even engram are injured.
Stay classy.
I’m not the one initiating the unwarranted insults to posters’ threads around here. The irony.

You're also obviously not aware of the OP's posting history. But you took shots at my family, which I did not do toward the OP or you, so just keep that in mind.

Steve Smith missed eleven regular season games in his first year with a back injury. No surprise he didn't put up big numbers.
In 2008, not only was he playing alongside Plax and Toomer, but in addition to the Giants running the shit out of the ball with Jacobs and Ward, Ward also caught 41 passes. Again, no surprise that Smith didn't put up big numbers.
In 2009, with the losses of both Plax and Toomer, Smith became much more of a focal point for the offense, and then he did put up big numbers.

Gatorade , once again I feel sorry for you.
You attack me because you couldn't figure out why I posted the statistics on Shepard.
Then get all bent out of shape when people other than myself start calling you out for it , and start giving it back to you.
Furthermore when it comes to Davis Webb , who are you to tell me , or anyone else on this board what we can or cannot talk about?
It seems to me you may have some controlling issues.
I would encourage you to possibly get some therapy , take some classes to help improve your IQ , so that you will be able to have a healthy conversation with other people.
And then you won't have to worry about trying to control what other people post or talk about.
Trust me it will help you here , and in the real world

I’ve seen you and the same other handle names insulting posters bc of their comments and threads over and over. One gets tired of seeing it happen.

Best of luck to you. I agree that we're not in the same IQ stratosphere, but suspect that you don't realize which end of the spectrum in which we each reside.
Smilar to SS. Slow and smol. But has a lot between the ears. I dsliked the SS signing at the time XD
As pointed out Shepard is better and while no burner he’s faster than Smith and can take balls to the house. Smith never had that ability. Smith may have been a slicker route runner but Shepard is a better athlete-significantly so.

Whatever the reasons?
Sure...it's not like missing 70% of the regular season in his rookie year had any bearing on Smith, statistically, and certainly playing in a heavily run-oriented offense in his second year, where he was essentially the third receiving option didn't, either.
Posters like you make me appreciate FMiC, Joey, and chopperhatch more and more each day.
Shepard may be a marginally better athlete - the operative word being "marginally" - but feel free to call me when he has a season that comes close to matching Smith's 2009.
Smith missed a significant amount of time but produced 250 yards vs Shepard producing well over 700 yards. So his per game stats are probably a wash.
Shepard did so in what was a backwards offensive philosophy with Macadoo on a terrible offense.
Smith did have a very productive 2009 but this was very clearly a result of being the only established receiver on that team. Shepard will never have this opportunity as a player or we should hope not.
Marginally more athletic? Smith could not outrun anyone. A great route runner but zero burst and 'ups', and I cant ever remember him making catches like Shepard did against Dallas in 2016 in his debut or his catch and runs against Philadelphia in 2017. Unless you would like to point out athletic catches Smith made.
So the whole point of the OP and some of the follow ups-people hoping that Shepard would turn out like Smith seems silly as a notion as he is already comparably productive in his per game stats as Smith was at this point in his career. Shepard was 19th in ypg last year-this is very similar to Steve Smith ypg production during 2009-10 when he was in his prime for NYG.
And with regards to your call out, seems incredibly lame and petty, given the drivel I've seen posted here. Make your point with facts and context.
Smith in 2012 received almost 10 targets a game to produce 76 ypg in his peak season. Shepard produced 10 yards less per game last year on more that 2 less targets per game.
And this was on a bad offense vs a very functional one in 2009.
