NFT: Apple CarPlay Honda Disconnecting

Essex : 5/7/2018 10:00 am
I just got a Honda CRV and it has apple carplay. Does anybody have issues with carplay disconnecting? It recognizes it and then it starts and it works and like two minutes later I get a sign "No Device Connected." I am pretty sure I am using an Apple wire (an online tip to get it to work). Can my Bluetooth be going in and out in traffic. I live in Park Slope in Brooklyn with a lot of car traffic, does that effect it. Just curious if anyone has any ideas or has dealt with it. Thanks in advance.
Not sure how relatable

But my Bluetooth from my '13 CRV cuts in and out constantly to the point that I don't use it. I took it to the dealership and they said it must be the phone. I've tried 3-4 different phones and same issue. Very frustrating

It's probably a faulty unit. Take it back to the dealer.

same here, both my phone and my wife's phone cut in and out. It is annoying as well. To add insult to injury, it also does not work seamlessly with the radio, I have the navigation map on for my phone and the Yanks game on yesterday and every time it would give me a direction, the Yankee game would turn off.
Take it to the dealer. We just got a CRV in October last year and

use the carplay all the time with no issues. Assuming your wire doesn't have any issues that make the connection faulty (like a bad charging cable) then I'd guess the dealer will have to check it out.
I get the "No Device Connected' error

once in awhile but only on start up and this is using my phone. I didn't register my phone but plug into the car. My thought was more related in that it was trying to find my wife's register phone first. I play around with the input and it then works fine.

The funnier thing on my end is when I start the car in my driveway and hear my wife's conversation as it notices her phone from our bedroom.
Try a few different cables

first, and if that doesn't fix it, take it to the dealership and don't take any of their bullshit. Make them fix it, they will try to blame it on something else but if trying a few different cables doesnt fix the problem make them fix it.

I have it in my GMC and have never had a problem
Thanks

I just ordered a new cable and will see if it works. If not, I will go back to the dealer and get them to fix it.
Not sure about the apple car play part...

but I have had a similar experience with the bluetooth kicking out. Two things cause problems.

1. If more than one phone is configured in the car, the first phone the car finds will be the one that gets connected. This can be an issue if two people get in the car with their phone.
2. When piping navigation audio through the car speakers via a navigation app on the phone that connection will be terminated if some other notification is received on the phone (eg. text message). The crappy fix for that was to call the phone to force the connection to be re-established with the car.

Apparently, this is too complicated for Honda to try and diagnose.
I have a 17 ridgeline

And it occasionally says its connected to Bluetooth but nothing is being broadcasted from the phone. Also, when using a USB port w an Iphone, it sometimes says "error device not connected" or something like that. I bought a better brand USB lightning cable and it seems to help that issue.

But it can be frustrating.

It also seems to be near impossible to easily delete a synched phone off of the bluetooth settings on my console. I have my old iphone and new iphone still available to sync and it drives me crazy bc it sometimes syncs wrong one bc they are identical names.

Make sure you're using a genuine OEM Apple USB/Lightning cord.
I have the same issue

With my Mercedes-Benz C300 and GLC300. It happens most often when I change tracks. I honestly think it’s an Apple issue. My guess is that fhey aren’t doing a very good job performing QA on different vehicle head units.
This literally just happened to me too on my new Mercedes that's not

even 4 months old. Very annoying. Im about to bring it to the dealer.

and the bluetooth transmission is always delayed by 3-4 seconds. I called Honda and they blamed it on the technology, stating there's a need to "transcode" audio that isn't native.
