I rarely start threads, but I am just so pumped...I have shot in the 60s before, but it was about 20 years ago, in hs and college...i played 2 years of college golf, but chose beer/girls over it (i was never going to go pro)...i gave the game up for about 10 years, then picked it up about 5 years ago, full steam...I joined a country club about 6 months ago, and yesterday, i shot 69!...I have been very close the past couple years, but always found a way to screw it up, not this time, i was calm, piping drivers on the last few holes, and collected on the greens...im on cloud 9 right now!
its frustrating when you look back at those 3 or 4 holes you messed up and thought about waht could have been.
My score really improved when I learned the meaning of "Inside the Leather" and invoked it liberally.
otherwise congrats!
otherwise congrats!
The country club of Muirfield Village...across the street from the famous course, both designed by Jack...par 72, had to play whites because of the group, 6400 and change...
yea it's an ok length..i prefer blues because i love a challenge, but this particular day, i didnt really want to play the blues alone while everyone else whites...i also did this while walking, i never ride, so alot of times, im spent by 16.
He said to me....golf is a very hubling sport. My response was......if that big fat guy over there who has no athletic ability at all is better than me, then golf isn't a sport.
I've never broken 80...many 81 and 82s and so on. But I did shoot a 54 at Sawgrass on my computer golf game once, so there's that.
Hahah!
GiantGolfer, how did the ride home work out for you? I literally just did the opposite of you. I had an outing for work at Old York CC today and drove home to Ronkonkoma. 2 1/2 hours there at the crack of dawn, 3 hours home. I’m shot.

Worked out great! We left Shinnecock around 2, and I pulled in at home a little after 5. You played Old York near Bordentown? I live about 5 min from there.

Great job. My best is 84. Would love to just break 80 one day.

Nice! Yeah it was funny, when you posted where you were coming from, I didn’t put 2 and 2 together that I’d be playing by you the same day.

How’d you like Old York? I used to play it a lot 10-15 years ago but haven’t played in awhile.

I liked it. It was in good shape. Some fun holes, especially the par 5 that the 2nd shot is way downhill and reachable in 2 with a decent drive.
Didn't Kim Jong-un shoot an 18 once, top that!
Anyway, congratulations!!
well we call it TCC, the country club, but are you referring to "The Golf Club?" if so, that is an extremely private course on the Northeast corner of Columbus...otherwise, yes, we are considered the country club, and it is directly across Muirfield drive from the Village course...regarding the 6400, i rarely play whites, but really had no choice, the backs arent crazy either at 6700 and some change, but you still gotta make the putts!
Congrats...
