NFT: Shot a sub-70 round of golf yesterday...

BronxBombers : 5/7/2018 1:41 pm
I rarely start threads, but I am just so pumped...I have shot in the 60s before, but it was about 20 years ago, in hs and college...i played 2 years of college golf, but chose beer/girls over it (i was never going to go pro)...i gave the game up for about 10 years, then picked it up about 5 years ago, full steam...I joined a country club about 6 months ago, and yesterday, i shot 69!...I have been very close the past couple years, but always found a way to screw it up, not this time, i was calm, piping drivers on the last few holes, and collected on the greens...im on cloud 9 right now!
When did you play
dep026 : 5/7/2018 1:42 pm : link
the back 9 then? haha
Nice number
cjac : 5/7/2018 1:43 pm : link
I shot my all time low back in August last summer. For some stupid reason i havent played well since then. But thats a nice round, congrats. Try to feed off the positives of that.
ha...
BronxBombers : 5/7/2018 1:43 pm : link

i doubled 15, 17 and 18 yesterday and shot 84

its frustrating when you look back at those 3 or 4 holes you messed up and thought about waht could have been.

My best round is a 75
Eli Wilson : 5/7/2018 1:53 pm : link
With a triple bogey on the last hole. All-time choke job when par would have given me even par for the day.
i hate that....doubles and triples ruin everything..
BronxBombers : 5/7/2018 1:59 pm : link
i shot a 71 on thanksgiving day and hit one OB on 10..theres my 2 strokes, however...i made a 6 foot bender for par on 18, so my guess is, i wouldve missed that putt if it actually meant something...
I birdied 17 and 18 at Sawgrass
Earl the goat : 5/7/2018 2:01 pm : link
And still shot a 110. 3 weeks before the TPC. 2004

My Golf Scores look like good Bowling Scores !!

My score really improved when I learned the meaning of "Inside the Leather" and invoked it liberally.

Congrats, Bomber.

What great game we have. I hope you continue to enjoy and excel. As you know, those two things are not necessarily connected. Yon can play like shit and still become bedeviled with finding "it" again. That focus can on improvement can bring just as much recreation as a good round.

The country club of Muirfield Village...across the street from the famous course, both designed by Jack...par 72, had to play whites because of the group, 6400 and change...
6400 is lengthly enough
cjac : 5/7/2018 3:17 pm : link
and you still have to make the putts

yea it's an ok length..i prefer blues because i love a challenge, but this particular day, i didnt really want to play the blues alone while everyone else whites...i also did this while walking, i never ride, so alot of times, im spent by 16.
Thats

An awesome achievement. Especially considering all the things that can go wrong in a round of Golf. Congrats.
Nice work, I'm jealous.

I picked up golf at like 30(12 years ago) and I've broken 90 twice. I just had a buddy give me lessons last week only to learn that basically every aspect of my game is wrong, haha.

He said to me....golf is a very hubling sport. My response was......if that big fat guy over there who has no athletic ability at all is better than me, then golf isn't a sport.
Nice job!
GiantGolfer : 5/7/2018 5:27 pm : link
I shot a 90 today at Shinnecock Hills. Severely kicked my ass but it was worth it!
Congrats, BB. That's quite a round of golf.
yatqb : 5/7/2018 5:31 pm : link

I've never broken 80...many 81 and 82s and so on. But I did shoot a 54 at Sawgrass on my computer golf game once, so there's that.
Great job.

6400 is a decent length course. I believe the Senior Tour usually plays 6500 or so. 69 is 69. Enjoy.
Bomber, is that course just called The Country Club?
3putt : 5/7/2018 6:01 pm : link
I played Muirfield last year and a course called THE Country Club. Needless to say, I didn't break par, except maybe for the milkshakes at Muirfield?

Great job. My best is 84. Would love to just break 80 one day.

GiantGolfer, how did the ride home work out for you? I literally just did the opposite of you. I had an outing for work at Old York CC today and drove home to Ronkonkoma. 2 1/2 hours there at the crack of dawn, 3 hours home. I’m shot.

Worked out great! We left Shinnecock around 2, and I pulled in at home a little after 5. You played Old York near Bordentown? I live about 5 min from there.

Nice! Yeah it was funny, when you posted where you were coming from, I didn’t put 2 and 2 together that I’d be playing by you the same day.

How’d you like Old York? I used to play it a lot 10-15 years ago but haven’t played in awhile.

I liked it. It was in good shape. Some fun holes, especially the par 5 that the 2nd shot is way downhill and reachable in 2 with a decent drive.
That's a great round

Breaking 70 is an unreal feeling, especially since the game can take away so much in an instant

Wow, that’s a amazing accomplishment.

My best round was a 74, and it was so easy. And then you go back and realize where you gave away a stroke or two. Now, the clubs feel like foreign objects to me. I can’t break 80 anymore. Usually upper 80’s now. Having been pretty good at one time makes not being so good that much less fun. Oh well.

Anyway, congratulations!!

well we call it TCC, the country club, but are you referring to "The Golf Club?" if so, that is an extremely private course on the Northeast corner of Columbus...otherwise, yes, we are considered the country club, and it is directly across Muirfield drive from the Village course...regarding the 6400, i rarely play whites, but really had no choice, the backs arent crazy either at 6700 and some change, but you still gotta make the putts!
Congrats on a great round!

I shot a 69 once. My saving grace was a good shot thru the windmill and then absolutely draining it into the clown's mouth at the end.
Sure brag it up!

From a guy that’s never seen the 70’s. LOL!
Congrats...
