Why wasn't he retained? He seemed to be around the ball a lot.
I don't know what attempts, if any, the team made to re-sign him,

but he's from Charlotte. He may simply not have been interested once he got a good offer from the Panthers.
His name had become a distraction in the locker room...

Giants thoughts were probably was he really any better than the rest of the average to below average DB's in the league we can get for cheap?
