Overall, he gives Gettleman positive review, and that's in the context of Paul Guillemette not really liking Gettleman as the GM who he finds, "...a bit coarse and brash for my taste."
But he goes on to say, "But give the devil (Gettleman) his due, so to speak. As the Draft progressed last week I had to sit back and think to myself that he was nailing all of his picks."
My own personal opinion: I can listen to Gettleman's prattle for about 30 seconds before I have to turn him off. But, frankly, I don't give a shit about Gettleman's mouth/personality. Draft me a team that can win ballgames and I'll vote Gettleman for the HOF.

Reese wasn't cautious with the press. If anything he was the opposite. I'd say he was awkward in dealing with the press and would stumble on his words. But if you get beyond that, especially early on in his career he would call his team a championship team in the pre-season pretty much every preseason. It turned out he was right in 2007 and they were the #1 seed in 2008. But he would continue to say the same thing, even as the team imploded in 2009. His countdown clock for the Super Bowl in 2013 was the stuff of legend when MetLife was hosting and the Giants started out 0-6.
I get what you're saying but Reese never received A's on his drafts.
Actually I think DG is a down to earth what you see is what you get type guy. Someone you could enjoy a beer with. I'll take him as my GM all day long.
If Gettleman gets the job done I don't care how many goofy attempts at humor he makes during these PCs.
Say what you want but three of the best payers on the 2011 team were Jerry Reese guys.
I get it, things went sour but you guys act like this is Billy King from the Nets. Get off the guys dick. He's gone and contributed to this franchise winning a couple championships.

Thank you for this post. Like you said... I get it too... but sheesh...

That’s actually quite remarkable

I would hope so, he had been running the draft for 5 years to that point.

Jerry Reese stuff.

And yet I've been told he deserves little to no credit for either of the two most recent Super Bowls.
The draftniks were right about Reese's drafts more often than Reese was.

Call Ernesto!
Basically, Reese hadn't gotten A's by most of the publications. He didn't get D's or F's either. Almost roundly in the C range consistently
I can listen to Gettleman's prattle way longer than that. I thought that Gettleman was a prattleman's prattler ...?
Prattle? (wtf) - I had to look it up (not a compliment).
Prattle - ( New Window )
Hope it is true ...
"With 6 Picks in this Draft the new GM was limited in how much he could fix. But when you throw in these additions as well as a pretty solid VFA class I think the Giants are one of the biggest winners in this off-season.
