NFT: Knicks Rewind from last offseason

After watching this playoffs would we still pass on Jaylen Brown and the 1st rd pick which ended up being Tatum for Porzingis? These guys both look like future all stars. Factoring in how injury prone Zinger is even besides the ACL will he be that dominant in his prime that he is better than 2 young future all stars? Not saying I would def but curious what people think if that deal was truly on the table as reported.
People are nuts to think

That KP is what he is or that heís injury prone. Before the knee he was missing 10-15 games or so a year. Thatís hardly injury prone especially for a young player coming along.

The Boston kids are very good but no, I wouldnít give up a potential hof in KP talent for them. Donít forget Boston is as cozy and inviting as any place in the nba. I could probably flourish there in a limited role. Ok no, but you get my point.

Look at what guys like Davis weíre doing over their first 2-3 seasons. KP will be fine. His knee will heal and he will beast by 2019 at the latest.
No guarantee the Knicks pick Tatum with the pick

Probably a good chance they pick DeíAaron Fox.
By the way

I have never seen a coach so outmatched as Brett Brown in this series. He lost all 4 games for Phili. It may go down as the worst coaching performance in NBA playoffs history. The guy never calls time outs when he should. Itís crazy.
Sound basketball decisions

Embiid playing with his vision severely hampered lost them this series. Mixed in with a few bad outings by a rookie.
Thereís no way of telling what was on the table

And who the Knicks wouldíve picked. So is the question would you rather have Porzingis or Brown + Tatum?

Itís a tough one and thereís no right answer. Nor is it completely fair. I take KP over either one individually no question. I think KP can become a #1 option. Brown and Tatum look more like 2/3 options but itís too early. The ACL injury I donít view as anything with long term impacts.
Tatum and Brown in a heartbeat

KP has great skills but he is too tall and skinny to bang, which is why he is so injury prone.

Sadly, I really doubt he ever lives up to his skill set.

But of course this is an exercise in fantasy since nobody really knows what was offered.

Lately the Knicks have been fine save for the Noah move.

The Knicks werenít going to be rebuilt over night. People forget when phil came in the Knicks had NOTHING to rebuild with save for two potential lotto picks in three seasons and some cap room. They used the two picks on KP and frank. Iíd call that a positive step. They used the cap space on some filler guys like lee, koq and Noah and hardaway. 2 mehs, one horrible and one ok signing. Nothing disastrous. Noah is out of here in two years. Wish we could take that move back but it is what it is, two more years isnít five more years. Phil was a mess but we survived his tenure.

Burke was a nice move. Maybe itís a great move letís see how he progresses.

At some point sooner than later the Knicks need to hit a HR in one of these drafts but if they hit a double this year, say they miss out on Randle and no big fa this summer, let KP sit out most of year, win 25 games in 2018-19 and hit another double in the next draft... that Knicks team wouldnít be bad off at all. With a little luck it could be something special.

The next two years will tell a lot. They have big piece in place with KP and I think frank is gong to be a player here. He can finish and play defense.

So he tore his acl because heís too skinny? He landed awkwardly on the freakís shove.

Can we let KP reach his early to mid 20s before we run him out of town?

Heís going to be a top 5 player. Iíll be here to remind everyone that doubts this when heís heading to multiple all star games.
KP was one of the best players in the nba
djm : 5/10/2018 10:38 am : link
Over the first 4-6 weeks or so of this last season. He would have finished the season as a 20-7-3 guy in his 3rd season, barely old enough to drink!!!

Three years ago when he was drafted all I heard was KP is 3 years away from being a viable nba player. I heard that right here. He was more than viable in year one. Downright special for long stretches of year 3.

Can we let this kid develop a little more with perhaps some fucking legit talent around him?
very few, if any,
Enzo : 5/10/2018 10:42 am : link
details leaked on what was discussed regarding KP to Boston. That said, the idea of Phil negotiating with Ainge is terrifying. We are probably better off that it didn't happen.

look at all the players that came to or left Brad Stevens. Brown and Tatum are probably in absolute best case scenarios. Imagine KP having Horford and the best perimeter defenders in the NBA? We do that trade, KP probably escapes the freak injury and then maybe ends Lebron's playoff run.
