He has played at least a season, but an interesting question none the less.

Outside of the QBs, and without hinsight....in terms of predraft hype, the only players I think would potentially go higher than SB are:

Garrett
Clowney
Greg Robinson
Trent Richardson
Suh
The Jags have some bad whiffs

I think youre nuts.

Barkley is widely considered the cleanest draft prospect in over a decade. Maybe excluding luck.

Bradford was a great prospect coming out of college.

& positional value.

he gets drafted behind every QB on that list-- not even close.

There are gonna be people who had Elliot graded higher than Barkley.

Now explain to me how Barkley isnt drafted near the bottom?

Every QB gets drafted above him
Both CBs get taken
50% of the WRs
50% of the OTs
90% of the DE/EDGE
50% of the DTs

then we can talk RBs and even if hes a better prospect than Elliot.

Thats just dumb because a lot of the qbs were not even as highly regarded as this class including Bradford. Bradford was Josh Rosen....injury issues and it stuck.

the question was

QBs rated coming out of college. Not how well they did in pros.

Bradford was rated very highly out of college.

Point is immaterial to begin with-- any QB that was taken top 5, has higher positional value over Barkley/Elliot--

thats an incontrovertible fact

that doesn't mean that the Giants can't find a QB that is just as good. Wentz in my mind is the best because the Indy QB might never be the same. I also believe if there was a prospect Luck in the draft the Giants would have never gotten him with the second pick let alone Wentz. That is where the question fails we had the second pick.

A guy screaming with bluster that Barkley would go behind 100% of the QB's - and has multiple posts about it is too fucking dense to realize Barkley was already taken in front of a QB on the list!!

Interesting perspective
Big_Blue_in_the_Bronx : 5/10/2018 8:28 am : link
A franchise QB to a team that decides it needs one almost always trumps everything and many times a team at the top not needing one will trade down for the ransom they would get.

So he would likely be below most of the QBs.

However, of all the non qbs on the list, Id put him 4th. Its a bit of a toss up but because of position impact Id put him only behind Suh,Myles,Von and possibly Clowney. The OTs arent like Ogden or Pace coming out though; Robinson was probably ranked the highest (even though he busted).

But I could still see a team picking him above all those guys the production, skillset, measurables and character are just too good.

He'd be above ALL the RBs because he is more of a gamechanger /homerun back with receiving ability than any of those guys.

It's Saquon,
Mr. Bungle : 5/10/2018 8:33 am : link
not SaQuan.

Saquon has a case to be made that he is the most polished, best overall prospect out of that entire group...

But Iíll name some guys that have at least an argument..

Patrick Peterson, Jalen Ramsey, Von Miller, Joey Bosa (whom you omitted in the OP) Jadeveon Clowney, Myles Garrett, Ndamukong Suh, Matt Stafford, Sam Bradford, Cam Newton, Marcus Mariota, Jameis Winston, Jared Goff, Carson Wentz, Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III MIGHT HAVE, just might have, been considered better prospects than Barkley IMO

If all QBs would go over non-QBs in a re-draft then you'd see

At a minimum, he's an E, IMO. NFL.com lists Robinson and Barkley with identical pre-draft grades, and there were definitely questions about Robinson entering the draft.

I wouldn't necessarily argue that. If others shared Gettlemen's equal grade to Peyton than there would be no one on the list but a couple Qbs maybe like Luck.

This whole exercise is pointless because obviously team needs come into play when deciding who gets drafted ahead of who. If the Browns already had a QB for instance they would have drafted Saquon #1 overall.

I still canít believe the Browns ended up with Mayfield and Ward when when could have had Darnold and Chubb. Or could have traded down from #4 and had Darnold and Ward plus more picks. It is rare for a QB with Mayfieldís measureables to succeed in the NFL, and regardless of the impression he made on them as a leader off the field, heís proven that on the field he doesnít have the unflappability needed to win as an NFL QB (something Darnold has at least proven even I wasnít even super high on Darnold........ What a shitty franchise.

Is the only non-QB I think that would have had a chance to go before him.

Clearly, a group of QB's would go first, I think the group would look something like this:

Luck, Stafford, Newton, Goff, Wentz, Mayfield. Jameis, Mariota, and Bob Griffin might've gone before him. Probably Jameis and Mariota. Redskins gave up a lot to draft Griffin so he might've gone before him as well. There's an argument for Bradford (without benefit of hindsight), but I think he was more of the best of a weak class and St. Louis was so desperate for a QB they had to take him. All things being neutral I don't think he would've been a good enough prospect as a QB to go before Barkley.

Clowney was looked at as a generational talent as well, so I could see him going before Barkley.
