any opposing team colors in the Lexus lounge seats and the Chase Club is on the second level, so who cares? Those are the premium seats, maybe some season ticket holders complained or something?
Contrary to popular opinion about Florida hockey teams, the Lightning fan base is rabid, they sell out almost every home game and the amount of opposing team fans is never more than what you’d call normal for a sporting event.
I told this story at the end of the NFL season... Â
I was invited to the Skins v. Giants game at FedEx by someone high up in the skins organization. It was to sit in one of the team boxes. Of course I excepted. Two days before the game the person gives me dress code and behavioral regulations. Said I can't wear any Giants gear and can't make any positive comments about the Giants. I wasn't going to be some obnoxious guy decked out in Giants gear and screaming GO GMEN! or anythying like that, but I was at the very least going to clap or show small emotion if we played well. I told the guy to forget it and give the tickets to someone else.
they enforced a dress code of sorts too. You were allowed to wear opposing teams gear on the way in, but it'd be covered with "other" items on the way out.
I think the policy is lame, but it is also heavily exaggerated.
It applies to the club seats only. 80% of the arena is unaffected wear what you want. The club seats don't kick you out, you can check the items, or receive a neutral shirt, or have your seat moved/refunded.
Its nowhere near as draconian as portrayed, but every playoff year there are dozens of clickbaity hot takes about it.
BUT LAME

Part of the allure of sports is rivalries and the intensity in the stands when the stakes are the highest.
Teams are within their rights to do this - it just feels cheesy and like they can't handle a little opposition.
I'd never go into an opposing arena acting like a complete douchebag. But I would want to wear some Rangers gear and root for my team.
That part blows my mind too. It's ridiculous.
yeah right - ( New Window )
It's 20 years old and owned and operated by the county, so yes it was publicly funded.
It will only get worse.
Fans keep paying and don’t even ask for a reach around. This is what happens. The Nfl psl thing was disgusting. And the fans caved. Shameful.
