Lorenzo Carter is exactly the type of player Reese coveted. Great length, speed, athleticism, pass rush potential. Of course Reese would have taken him in round 2.

Yep. I said it weeks ago. Leonard Floyd was actually my pro comparison to Lorenzo Carter and we all know (or at least heard) how infatuated Reese was with Floyd.

Gettleman said they were trying to trade up to the second round to get Carter but couldn't. Luckily,he fell to them at #66.
I am so glad that we don't have to worry about draft picks holding out anymore.
The 80s and early 90s sucked when it came to holdouts for any and all players. Every year a multitude of star players on nearly every team held out for parts of most of camp. Bavaro one year. Banks. LT. And always always rookies. It sucked.

Just how badly did Gettleman want to draft Carter on Day 2? He was trying to trade up to land him.
“I’ll be honest, we made an attempt to trade up but we couldn’t get anything and we couldn’t get it done. Sometimes patience is a virtue,” Gettleman told reporters on Friday. “We tried and thank God we didn’t have to.”

some people had a 1st round grade (draft "experts") on him so maybe the 1st round.

How was Floyd last year anyway?
Floyd had a very good rookie season with 7 sacks in 12 games. Last season he recorded 4.5 sacks in 10 games.

I know that they were trying to trade up to him I was just joking that Reese would have taken him with the 34th pick. Gettleman likely wanted to trade up a few spots from the 3rd round into the late 2nd to get Carter. The Giants had the 2nd pick in round 3 so they weren't going to trade up too far for Carter.
