The way this may work out: Perkins tore his pec. That’s generally a 6-month injury. Unlikely he gets claimed given this. Chance he ends up on reserve/NFI with Giants and his season will be over.

With Paul Perkins out of the picture, wouldn’t completely close the door on an Orleans Darkwa return. Darkwa had surgery Wednesday to remove metal plate in leg but should only be sidelined 3-4 weeks

Fascinating analytics-based answer from @JoeBanner13 on a study the Eagles once did on late-round draft picks.
“We found that players in rounds five, six, and seven that turn out to be quality starters came from three categories. One, they came from a small school. Two, they had been injured their last year in school so they had been undervalued. Or three, they had been undersized but for some reason overcame it.
If you’re in the sixth round and picking some guy from Ohio State that has great height, weight, and speed, your chances that everybody missed him and he turns out to be a starter are miniscule.”

“On train rides to the West Coast for games in Los Angeles and San Francisco: “The train would stop some place, then we’d make another stop in Wyoming and practice. All the people on the train would come out and watch us. Then we’d stop somewhere in the middle of Nevada and work out for 45 minutes. It was a lot of fun. No pads. Wind sprints and run some plays, but always in sweat suits. It seemed like we'd stop out in the middle of the damn desert. It was a scheduled 45-minute stop. People would get out and watch us, just have a ball. They didn’t care if we were a little late.”
