Glad they are winning though they need one desperately.

LOL.. yeah, he went what.. 4 scoreless and gave up 1 hit?

Of fucking course. Not that it's the most impressive line - 4 innings isn't much of an outing. But it's still funny that it was probably his best outing so far this year - and his first one with the Reds.

Oh well. We got some return out of Mesoraco tonight even though we didn't need the insurance. Harvey just needed to go - the entire relationship was fractured and wasn't going to get any better.

Big win, man.. we needed it. For 8 innings, this was another annoying, frustrating game where we just could not do anything offensively. Scooter's HR was huge... especially for him. I think he needed that even more than the team did. We need him to be the guy he was last year before he got hurt.

The Phillies seem to be the one team in our division whom we have their number. The other three teams still give us all sorts of trouble. Even beating the Marlins never seems easy.

Forget two of three here - we need to sweep this team. We got a win in the game where we had the biggest pitching disadvantage. Now we have Thor and Jake in games 2 and 3. Cannot let this opportunity go to waste. We can knot up with them if we get a sweep here.

The Nats are awake now so the Mets really can't afford to slump any longer if they want to stay in the race. They already erased the grace period they created the first 3 weeks.

We'll see what these guys are made of... it's only May 12th, but the Phillies and Braves seem to have arrived a bit earlier than expected, so if we're going to do anything this year, we're going to have to get back on track.. like now.
Lol, not concerned in the lest bit that Harvey pitched well
PhiPsi125 : 5/12/2018 7:26 am : link
against a bad team...for four innings lol. Personally, Iím looking forward to the next time he gets lit up.
I watched Harvey
jpkmets : 5/12/2018 7:53 am : link
he ws 93 most of the night. Hit 96 once (95.8) on statcast.

Not sour graping here -- I thought he looked about the same and the Dodgers looked as flat as the Mets have looked for two weeks before the 9th.

He also was on a pitch count, so easier perhaps to let it fly.

I'll be watching him just out of interest, for sure.

Glad we got Mesoroco for him. Looks like a stable catcher and certainly good results with Wheeler and Matz so far.

REally hope Syndegaard can find that extra gear. His velo is down this year and not putting hitters away. Would be great to see him fully arrive and then get de Grom back tomorrow.
Didnt see game

did Smith get in? How'd his swing look if so?

I think Reyes was picked off while Dom was. At bat

For the third out
What exactly are Harveyís heinous crimes?
Vanzetti : 5/12/2018 4:37 pm : link
1. He backed Boras on 180 limit, which proved to be a fatal mistake pnmets part when they pushed him 215

2. He got drunk and lied about it. Not good. Not professional. But Il bet 90% of BBI once lied about being drunk

3. Spotted by Page Six our a club in San Zdiego

4. Cursed at a reporter

5. Refuses mnor league assignment, which he would have been an idiot to accept and which Mets knew he would decline

Am I missing anything? LT did ten times as much. So, the real reason he got traded was Poor performance because we all know Mets would have let everything slide if he were the old Harvey

Given Sandyís record of letting guys like Murphy and Turner go, do t be surprised if Matt is not as done as the braintrust thinks

1) Harvey can make his own decisions. He didnít have to pitch that much. Pitching in the postseason was 100% his decision and he likely wanted it.

2) Harvey vs BBI posters? Really? Well, since you want to compare, most people on BBI would have lost their jobs years ago if they acted like Harvey. But we (presuming) are also that multi million dollar assets. Act the part. He did not. He acted like an entitled jerk his entire time with the Mets.

3) Allegedly plastered the night before a game as a relief pitcher. You think thatís no big deal? Moreso, after all these years, he still hasnít learned. Or doesnít care. Likely both. Awesome traits for a quality teammate.

4) Just another example or a poor attitude and immaturity. I mean, we see players cursing at reporters every day, right? Nothing wrong with that behavior at all.

5) Refuses minor league assignment. Sure, thatís his right. Cliff Lee went back to the minors. Roy Halladay went back to the minors. But Harvey is too good to work on his game in the proper place. Okay. Iím sure the Mets knew heíd decline. But Iím sure they also wanted him to accept so he could contribute to the team. But thatís not a sexy headline.

Among many other issues.

LT was a HOFer and produced on the field. Earns you a bit of latitude, donít you think? Kinda how the world works. Harvey was a bad player and a headache for the club. Also never took responsibility for his failures and made excuses for his poor performance. Also never learned from mistakes or ever grew up. Probably never will.

I donít like Sandy but getting rid of this cancer was one of his greatest decisions.
We will just have to disagree
Vanzetti : 5/12/2018 7:39 pm : link
I think Mets could have handled it a lot better. I also think Sandy brings his morality into the process. Donít think Murphyís comments about gay people and the Bible did not play a role in the decision not to resign him.

Murph was bending over backwards not to say anything offensive but he is an athlete not a public speaker and it came out wrong. I 100% support gay tights, transgender bathrooms and sexuality rights. But I think once you start playing moral policeman instead of making purely performance decisions, you are fucked. Dykstra and Strawberry and Kevin Mitchell were all moved or not resigned for off the field stuff. Ruined the 80s Mets. So letís just hope we are not sitting here two years from now saying the same thing about this Mets team
Mets gave Harvey

the "works" through their press manipulation.
The Mets could have handled it better?
PhiPsi125 : 5/12/2018 11:13 pm : link
The Mets stuck by Harvey after years and years of his bullshit. He never grew up. At some point you have to let the petulant child learn the hard way or simply separate yourself from the cancer.

The Mets handled Harvey the exact way any ballclub should handle a way underperforming player. The problem is with the player, not the team. You can agree to disagree but you are still wrong.
I can assure you
Shecky : 5/13/2018 9:07 am : link
The team took the high road with harvey. They could have EASIKY slipped many, many stories to sully his reputation. And didnít.

From your understanding. Did Harvey care more about his social life than baseball?
.
arcarsenal : 5/13/2018 1:06 pm : link
There's nothing left to defend about Harvey. For once, the Mets aren't to blame. They did everything they could with this dude. The relationship just needed to end.
Degrom walks bases loaded

25 pitches without recording an out to start the game
Well, more first inning woes for the Mets. If nothing else, they are
PhiPsi125 : 5/13/2018 3:05 pm : link
certainly consistent with their sucktitude. At bare minimum, this drastically shortens the game for DeGrom ant the bullpen is taxed again.

Hope for a DP here. That would be fantastic.

45 pitchesóthat has to be close to a record

45 pitches in the first inning without giving up a run. I know Trachsel threw 61 pitches in the first inning but he gave up runs
