NFT: Question for Out of NYG cord cutters

CoughlinHandsonHips : 5/14/2018 10:29 am
Recent cord cutter in the Baltimore area.

How do you guys stream your NFL games? I have an HD antenna for the nationally broadcast games, and currently have Sling for anything on ESPN.

I'm aware of the reddit streams, but would prefer to do it above board.

Looks like I'm not eligible for simply streaming Sunday ticket without a direct tv account.

How do you guys do it? Any good deals out there?
For out of market games?

DirecTV has the monopoly on that. Unless you're going to go with illegitimate streams, you're choices are severely limited.
Put a vpn on..set to NYC area

You have to make the site think you are in Europe to get a live stream of the game using a VPN. It's really a pain the in the ass. But fortunately for those in the DC/Baltimore market there are only 4-6 games a year that are not on local TV here. If you don't want to use a VPN. Subscribe to the service that allows you to watch the games after the 4pm games are finished. That means you need to avoid finding out the score before you have a chance to sit down and watch it.

Otherwise you are finding a way to stream the game with a so-so video stream.

Has Redzone as an add-on for $10/month. I add it on for football season and take it off once the season ends. It's not the best solution but I get to at least watch every NYG TD. Works well for me though since I play fantasy.

Should be the defacto standard.
So I'm in a similar boat

I live in Columbia, MD. Why can't you sign up for Sunday Ticket service without getting DirecTV? I haven't heard of that.

Unfortunately, I don't know what else you could do that would be on the up and up. Go to a sports bar would be my other other recommendation.

The NFL Mobile app lets you stream the local teams. In Baltimore area, you'll get the Ravens and maybe the Redskins. I don't know if the app can be fooled with a VPN, because then you could set it for NY and stream the Giants' game as the local team.

With your HD Antenna, can you get Washington networks as well? I forget what cable service I once had where I got both the Baltimore and Washington networks, but I was able to get the Giants on one or the other for the vast majority of the games.

I used to use a hacked NFL Gamepass app to get the games, but NFL discounted the specific app. I have to use Reddit now.

Sunday ticket had me plug in my address to see if I was eligible for streaming only, which I wasn’t

This.

I have DirectTVNow, and even they won't allow me to stream NFL games to my phone because of Verizon's exclusivity agreement on mobile devices.
I mean, shit, I'm doing it legally and still running into problems.
Reddit streams are far easier to utilize.
google search the following string

I think they know from your I address, that you are not in the NY area. As one of the posters stated, you probably have to setup a VPN to mask where you are from

I used to pay for the NBA equivalent and their streams would go down all the time, for no reason. And their "help" desk was useless. Reddit streams so much more reliable than a paid product.

Agreed. I sometimes have to stream hop, which is a pain, but is worth the 'price'.

I have done it before, no problems. The thing that sucks is you would get the NY news instead of the Baltimore local news, but you have an antenna.
I know you don't want to use Reddit

But it's the easiest way. Get yourself a Chromecast, fling that bad boy to the TV, perfect quality.
If you're looking to get Giant games

and you know someone in the Metro Area (or around the Albany area, since they get almost all of the games) who's willing, you can get a Slingbox. It allows you to stream from their cable connection to your PC. Once there, you should be able to cast it to your big screen.

Since most cable systems are now encrypted (requiring a cable box per TV), the person who's allowing you to connect will need to have a dedicated box for you, so that expense will need to be factored in.
