Knicks GM Scott Perry reiterates to @alanhahn that the club is looking to draft the best player available, regardless of position. “We’ve got to get the highest level of talent that we can get on our roster and we’ll figure out all of the positions once they get in there.”

(Bamba reportedly has early helium as high as 4, but he's my hope at 9 given the realistic names being thrown around... Bridges, Sexton etc)

Just before Pick 9.

At least the Knicks didn’t slide down from 9. Every non-Knicks call now? Bonus!

only the knicks
MookGiants : 5/15/2018 8:20 pm : link
can be as bad as they were this year and somehow wind up with the 9th pick.

There literally is zero hope for this franchise. Absolutely none. The fucking Kings jump from what, 7th to the top 3?
Hawks, Kings, Suns
Mike in NY : 5/15/2018 8:21 pm : link
Are your top 3 in some order
Bulls did all that blatant tanking
bceagle05 : 5/15/2018 8:21 pm : link
for the seventh fucking pick. Good job.
Jamie Gertz
Beezer : 5/15/2018 8:21 pm : link
winking and mouthing “all right” as the Hawks jump to the top 3.

Such a strange broadcast.
Kings jumped up last year too
bceagle05 : 5/15/2018 8:22 pm : link
but the Sixers had the right to switch places with them.
Now just have to nail the pick
nygiants16 : 5/15/2018 8:22 pm : link
Lot of small forward in that range
Knicks need to Blatantly

You realize you do not need the number 1 pick to get great players right?
I think we'll wind up with Mikal.
bceagle05 : 5/15/2018 8:34 pm : link
Seven may be a little too high for Chicago to take him, and Cleveland probably goes for more upside potential (Young/Sexton).
Not sure if this right, without checking,
Beezer : 5/15/2018 8:40 pm : link
But off the top ... the Knicks won 5 of their last 13, soooo ... essentially this. If they’d only won 2 of the 13, they’d have ended up in the spot occupied by Sacramento. Meaning the No. 2 pick.

Maybe porter slides, need Sexton and you to sneak into top 8
Thanks

Why am I not surprised? We never get any help.

At least none of the Celtics, Sixers or Cavs are picking in the top 3.

You don’t NEED to but those Dukie commits look enticing right now
Suns needed that #1 as much as anybody

Booker and Ayton will be a sweet duo. Still think Jackson is going to be solid too.

Knicks have to start adding
nygiants16 : 5/15/2018 8:50 pm : link
Long athletic players at the wing especially with fizdale wanting to play uptempo and small...

Sixers has simmons yiu will have to guard for the next 10 years...

Celtics have brown and tatum...

Porter, both bridges, and Knox fit that bill
Agree preferably wings
Carl in CT : 5/15/2018 8:51 pm : link
But we just need players
Nine is ok
djm : 5/15/2018 8:51 pm : link
Just get a good player.
..
djm : 5/15/2018 8:56 pm : link
At least the Knicks finally have picks. They developed some young talent this last season not a total loss. Picking nine with good cap flexibility only a year away or so away, could be worse. Throughout this 17 years of crap run by the Knicks they rarely ever had any first rounders let alone top ten picks. Knicks at the very least just need to stock their system with legit rotational talent. Top ten picks afford you that chance.

If you're not picking top five, then you need sharp basketball minds making the pick. Since when do the Knicks have that?
At least we have picks
djm : 5/15/2018 9:21 pm : link
I’ll keep saying it. Just gotta hit.

The mere fact that we have top ten picks in succession gives me hope. This rarely if ever happens.

the Knicks overall behavior lately hasn’t been bad at all some encouraging signs. Knicks are two years away from fielding a pretty good looking team if they don’t fuck things up. Call me crazy but pretty comfortable in my belief that Perry and mills won’t do anything terrible. It’s whether they do something great that I’m unsure about.

One thing I love of about drafting mikal, is his defense...

He may not be looked at as a superstar talent, but adding him would add some much needed defense...

You then have 2 young perimeter defenders next to a shot blocker in kp...

That is 3 long defenders
So who are your nine best players?
Anakim : 5/15/2018 9:37 pm : link
I'll give it a shot:

1. Luka Doncic
2. Deandre Ayton
3. Mo Bamba
4. Jaren Jackson Jr.
5. Marvin Bagley III

^^^Those guys will for sure be gone

6. Wendell Carter Jr.
7. Michael Porter Jr.
8. Collin Sexton
9. Trae Young

And then the Bridges?
9.
Why are we looking for role players when there is only one stud on
Jim in Hoboken : 5/15/2018 9:50 pm : link
the roster, an injured one at that. That's how we ended up with Frank when Mitchell was still on the board.

It appears that some of us can make better picks by looking at YouTube clips, here is a name to keep an eye on: Zhaire Smith!!

I definitely don't want Mikal or Miles. At our range, Sexton seems to have that "it" factor but I don't know how his athleticism translates to the NBA level. I'd give Trae Young a long look also, we need playmakers, period. The other target would be SGA.
Where do we pick in the second round?
Anakim : 5/15/2018 9:54 pm : link
Maybe we can get guys like Mitchell Robinson or Isaac Bonga?
Apparently we pick 36th.
bceagle05 : 5/15/2018 10:00 pm : link
I think we have another second rounder later on, too.

If Sexton
GMEN46 : 5/15/2018 11:43 pm : link
Is available you have to pick him over either Bridges. Way more upside for Sexton.

So maybe a guy like Isaac Bonga, Hami Diallo, Mitchell Robinson (insanely athletic center), or Mo Wagner? Or maybe a G-League stash guy like Anfernee Simons?

That's not how that works. They could have had Sacramento's slot and still not drawn the Number 2 pick. It's the Knicks. They don't have that kind of luck.

I saw something on Twitter about Sacramento and Chicago switching places in round two, since they had the same record and Sac had the higher first round pick (supposedly it's an obscure NBA rule?). That would bump the Knicks up to 36, but I can't swear by it.
Extremely

early but sounds unlike Sexton is high on their board.
I wouldn't give Trae Young a look at all

undersized, mediocre athlete, shooting declined significantly once teams started keying on him. Don't think he's an NBA star.

Unless Sexton is head and shoulders above the small forwards in that range I see no reason to take him...

Knicks may get lucky and porter falls right into their lap
Bulls seem destined for Wendall Carter

I rather them take a chance on Miles Bridges or Michael Porter before Carter.

Is kris Dunn viewed as the future there or would that be a landing spot for sexton?

They are very high on Dunn. Bamba was their ideal pick. Dont think he lasts until 7 though.

Yeah I am trying to find 2 landing spots for young and Sexton so porter falls
Read the NY post comments from Avery Johnson
Carl in CT : 5/16/2018 9:50 am : link
On Sexton. He thinks he is as fast as KJ was and also as athletic as R. Westbrook with a stroke. Said he should be top 5. If any of that is true, he has to be considered.
Cleveland is a good choice
dep026 : 5/16/2018 9:51 am : link
for one of them. They need a scoring guard in the worst way. And I would look at Orlando as another potential suitor. They have Gordon and Isaacs already. Bamba seems destined to go there, but do they really have any guards that are good?

You think Ayton, Jackson, Bamba, and porter all get picked before the bulls? I think they'd go for any one of them and its not hard seeing Bagley and Young both go top 5 as well.
