I have been looking for a used vehicle for my daughter. Where the heck to people sell their vehicles these days?
All I see online are dealers and small used car lots selling. Virtually no private owners on craigslist either. They all end up being some kind of dealer.
Is there some marketplace that anyone knows about?
In the event that you are selling a car, looking for...
Honda CRV
Toyota Rav4
Hyundai Tucson
or something similar...
Look online as well...private parties can post on sites like Auto Trader.
HTH
https://www.hertzcarsales.com/ - ( New Window )
Still, Hertz has great prices and deals on used cars.
- Cars.com
- CarMax.com
- Carsdirect.com
There is also Carvana.com, they seem interesting and always have a sizable inventory
And no, I'm not kidding.
Same here.
He carries all cars, most of them have 100K plus mileage but many are in very good condition. He seems to specialize in Subaru's.
Here is a link to his website:

But the newer the car the harder it is to find a private seller. I think most are trading in because so many need financing to buy and those moving on from a late-model low-mileage car are probably buying new and financing as well.
It's been a long damn time since I've seen one, though.
And no, I'm not kidding.
How does that work?
A robotic lift takes the car down and slides it to the customer, with no human intervention.
Quote:
Customers start at Carvana's website, where they can buy a car online and choose to have it delivered or pick it up at the vending machine. If they choose the latter, they schedule a time to go to the vending machine site, where they receive a silver "commemorative, oversized Carvana coin" that activates the machine with a rumble and transports the vehicle down from the tower to a ground-floor delivery bay.

So, people actually buy cars on a website without even test driving them?
Makes me wonder whether people sell the cars on their own anymore or does everyone just trade them in?
Facebook has SOME private owners. The other funny thing is so many of the pictures are taken in front of an auto body shop. I guess they don't realize that people can see that in the background or... most people are just stupid.
