SB keeps beating the team concept philosophy every time he speaks. Love his attitude. Hope this all translates to wins. Thanks for sharing the article Eric.
"It’s different. I like it. Running out of the I-formation, I think I feel a little more comfortable running that way. You’re able to get your shoulders square as a runner, a lot quicker. When your shoulders are square, you can break a lot of tackles. You can gain a lot of extra yards. Those little one or two yards may not seem like a big deal, but through the course of a game, those runs are a pretty big thing.
The Penn St. offense featured a terrible offensive line and a slew of shotgun handoffs and RPOs. The cheap thrill of the college game. Barkley was trying to prop up an overmatched OL with bullshit play calling when all 11 guys on defense were focused on him.
Nobody's seen Barkley behind a good run blocking OL with a full run scheme and the defense forced to concentrate BIG TIME on another player (OBJ). Nobody's seen Barkley playing with a QB of Eli's calibre.
RB's love the I because it gives them a FB (extra lead blocker) and allows them a deeper set (more time to read field & running start at the exchange). Shurmur's got that old school comprehensive run game. Attacks with both power and zone, inside and out. Between that and all the play action it's impossible to get a bead on what he's calling.
Barkley will be even more deadly in the I within the contexts of this Giants offense.

...mature and modest demeanor rub off on the entire Giants ball club?
That would be worth two or three wins right there.
Offense wins games
Defense wins championships

You say "modesty" like it's a bad thing. It isn't. Glad to see at least one "young dude" seems to know this.
Not sure how you reached that conclusion. Never said it was a bad thing. I just don't see how it helps a team win games.
As M.S. said, that kind of team-before-self attitude can rub off on other players, especially in a locker room that appeared to be ridiculously dysfunctional last year.
JonC has mentioned several times about the cultural change the Giants' brass is looking for. Guys like Barkley can help foster that change. I would add Solder and Ogletree to that, too, along with Hernandez, Carter and Hill.

Modesty and a team first attitude are not the same thing.
Unity is a great thing for team to have which has nothing to do with being modest or being self promoting.
Modesty is just how someone chooses to express themselves and has no impact on performance.

Maturity and modesty do matter in all aspects of professionalism. Ask Eli Apple. Hope his head finally gets on straight, because he is very talented and the Giants could use that talent.
Penn State had a very explosive offense. They had many exceptional players besides Barkley.Trace McSorley is not Eli Manning, but he is an outstanding college QB.Penn State lost 2 games by 4 points because their defense played poorly.
Because when we picked him over a QB, we declared a win a title with Eli now mode, not a win some games now mode.
We also have to wait and see whether Eli is still a great QB. He's been pitiful the last two years, and the Barkley pick people think he's a lock to rebound. I am not of that opinion. I will root for it, but I do not expect it to rebound.

Here we go again from the gotta take a QB crowd. Let me ask you this. What if Darnold, Rosen, Mayfield or Allen do not win any Super Bowls? We all want a 5th Super Bowl and more but how frequent do they come? There are some teams out here that haven't even won as Super Bowl.Let's stop harping over selecting Barkley, because you didn't get what you wanted and start pulling for Barkley and Eli. DG felt this was the best course for getting that Super Bowl.

Football is one step removed from roman gladiator sport. I wish I knew why some viewers need to see these guys taking concussions and brutalizing one another be modest boy scouts.

TTH. I think it has to do more with attitude and being a professional on a team sport. It takes 11 guys to execute a play on both defense and offense. When someone is immature and is a hotdog, it usually results in bad play. It matters both on and off the field. Eli has a good demeanor and is modest, and he has been involved in winning 2 Super Bowls. That NFC Conference game against SF in 20011 shows how much of a cold blooded killer Eli was and at the same time how calm he is. I thinks Saquon has that same type of demeanor and professionalism.

Yup - pitiful
