NFT: FBB. Venting thread.....Goldschmidt is terrible!!!

superspynyg : 5/18/2018 8:34 am
.208 avg .333 obp. 21 runs, 4 hrs, 12 rbis.....12 FUCKING RBI’s!!!! We expected his hrs to be down some this year in the humidor, but he can’t even hit sing,es and doubles!!!!

I picked him 10th in a 12 team league. I thought I got a great deal. He always has a 290+ avg 400 obp and good numbers. But this is just crappy.

A buddy wants to trade me Kershaw for him. Kershaw is on the dL and he is willing to wait till Kershaw comes back in June. Would you do that?

Plus half my team has spent time on the DL... I suck at FBB.

My team started off red hot and then contracted leprosy

3-4 guys on the DL every week. And that's across the league.
You'd also be selling Goldy at bottom value.

I would give it another few weeks.
I don't know if

Goldy has ever had a period in his career where he didn't hit like this for any stretch of time.
It's got to be an oddity...sooner or later he'll get it together...I would hold him.
Could be hiding an injury

or could be just a slow start. It could be that he is pressing. Bernie Williams always started slow and then starting in June, no one could get him out.

If Goldschmidt is healthy, and I don't know the answer to that, he will start hitting. I certainly wouldn't trade him for a pitcher who will maybe give you 20 more starts for the rest of the season.

Yes but even when both are on their game, IMO I take Kershaw. Even though he mostly gets only one play per week, he anchors your SP stats. He'll be 1 of 5-6 SP effecting your pitching stats as opposed to 1 of 8-12 Batters effecting hitting stats. Dominant pitchers are more valuable to me than dominant hitters (except Trout).

I make that trade probably now, definitely make it if Kershaw comes back looking like himself.

The trade would not happen till June when Kershaw is read6 to come back.

He was a keeper in my main league for the last 5 years and I tanked last year for a good pick knowing he and Betts were shaking free. Betts went first, but I thought Goldschmidt would be a fine consolation prize.

Not so much.

Of course I get this guy the year he's not posting elite numbers.
I wouldn’t make that trade

Unless you are desperate for pitching. His BABIP is well below his career avg (50 points under last year, which was lower than his BABIP of prior years). He’s also hitting the same amount of fly balls as last year, he’s just waaay down on HR/FB, obviously. He’s going to bounce back, unless he’s hiding an injury. Kershaw now has an injury history so I’d stay away from him unless you’re clearly making out on the trade.
I did FSB once way back in the early 90s

I drafted Kevin Maas very high, first or second round, based on his amazing rookie season. Good times. Never again.
