I was in college when Charles and Di were married. Friends of mine made a whole event of it, with the early-morning breakfasts and drinking, etc. I suspect they did this mostly to appease their lady friends. I didn't pay any attention back then.
I admit I'm at least a little bit interested in this one. The dude seems like a good guy. She at least appears to be a decent human being. Both might be somewhat down-to-earth.
Seems everyone I talk to is tired of the whole thing. Pretty much boycotting it, they say. But the world, generally, seems enthralled.
TV coverage begins tomorrow morning at 4. My wife thinks if would be fun to get up early and watch, have mimosas, blah blah ... so I suppose if she wakes me up, I'll try to make the most of it (IFFFF ya know what I mean - hello!). lol
With that image in mind, BBI - Royal Wedding ... whattaya got?
It's a cynical PR move.
And, I don't think she's all that to be honest..........
+1
As for the Royals, on one hand, kinda fun nostalgic throwback to Olde England (where part of my family is from), but on the other, millions of dollars spent sustaining this arcane institution could perhaps be better spent elsewhere?
Is this a serious post? Maybe you should look a little bit at what's going on in London and re-think your position.
Or not; ignorance is bliss.
I said I thought she was crazy. Meanwhile, Mrs. Beez thought it was "really cool."
And I think there it is, in general. Seems more women are caught up in this, for one reason or another.
Exactly, almost comically stupid at this point, it's for little girls to dream of being princesses.

is antiquated (sp?)and the whole thing is overblown but it beats the hell over the crap we're dealing with on this side of the pond. (never thought I'd say "this side of the pond")

Haha seriously - I spent 2 weeks in London last fall, that’s either good sarcasm or one of the dumbest things I’ve read here in a while
Agreed. She's gorgeous
Why anybody in the US cares about a royal wedding in England is beyond me. They have royal weddings in other countries too and nobody in the US gives a damn.

You do realize Meghan Markle is american right? Might be a slight reason for interest.
Frank Drebin quote - ( New Window )
Because it seems like every girl dreams about growing up to be a princess. I guess they have this idealized version of sitting on a throne all day and having people wait on you hand and foot.
Well, I guess it beats worshipping fake, manufactured relationships like John Cena and Nikki Bella, or Crazy Kanye and the Plastic Pig.

I know, my comment was a bit facetious. My wife likes this crap and I make fun of her for it.

I have learned that that is actually impossible, as you can only be a princess if you are born into royalty. Duchess of Sussex I think is what she becomes.
Wasn't Grace Kelly Princess of Monaco? Princess Grace?

Actually, Kate Middleton wasn't born into the royal family and, while a Duchess now, will eventually become Princess of Wales and then Queen so it isn't something you have to be born into. It is true that Meghan will "only" be a Duchess but I think she and Harry have the opportunity and star power to do a lot of great philanthropic work.
That's about my only thought regarding this thing.
I don't even care who gets married in America. Why the hell should I care about these guys? The one guy looks like Carson Wentz.
