I am not a proponent of doing this just bringing it up. Suns have mentioned possibility of using some of their future picks to move up from 16 back into lottery if there is a player that they really like. Personally I think it’s too far back for Knicks to pick at 16, but if Suns offered 16 and 31 this year and their own 2019 pick, top 7 protected and then top 3 protected in 2020, is there a player in the 16 range that would be a good upside pick? Based on top prospects it doesn’t seem like it, but if Our best option is Miles Bridges from MSU at 9 At then I would trade down. Also what are people’s thoughts on Knox from kentucky?
In my order of preference
Bomba
Mikhal
Knox
Depending on whose available at 9
If Kanter opts out
I’d love to sign Julius Randle
And of course trade for Kawhi
Mock trade. Frank plus 2019 and 2021 firsts plus Lee for Kawhi
I’m in the Noah corner. I wouldn’t stretch him this year due to the KP injury
Knox looks like a more reliable shooter than Miles but right now has even a more basic handle than Mikhal’s. He has great size and length I can see him being able to play 3/4 in the NBA.
1. Sexton - besides being an inch or 2 too short he has everything you want for a NBA guard, super athletic, can finish with both hands, can finish through contact, shooting potential is there, will be a good defender, plays harder than anyone else on the court, has the it factor, not afraid of the spotlight. Upside is huge. Hoping him or Porter Jr fall to us. Assuming with Mitchell success he won’t drop he is by far my #1 option right now at the 9th pick assuming the other guys are gone, I don’t care that we have trey Burke, Frank And Mudiay. Mudiay is not getting resigned anyway. And Trey should be 6th man. In this scenario, Hardaway would have to play the 3, which is fine because it will help with the tank next year.
2. Knox - I don’t love him, but upside potential is good and ability to play defense is there.
3. Mikhail Bridges - will be a very solid pro, upside seems a bit limited, but seems like the type of guy who will give you great defense every night and score 12-15 pts a night.
My order for overall for best upside:
1: Ayton
2. Doncic
3. Porter Jr.
4. Bamba
5. Sexton
6. Bagley
If Mikhail and Sexton are both there at 9, I am worried the Knicks will take Bridges for position need.
The Knicks need assets and to “build the talent base” as Perry said. This gives them picks at 16, 31,36 along with a major trade chip moving forward. I’d defintely do that trade.
If phoenix offered

1,16, 31 for kp, do you do it?

So: Is the #1 in this year's draft worth KP?
My answer: Only if you think KP will always have injury problems and miss a lot of time every year. (A legitimate opinion.)
That offer only comes if the Suns think KP is a better bet than the #1 pick. If that offer came, I would agree with them.
It would be nice to have the #1, #9, #16 and #31 picks, but in this era of super teams, you'd have to get incredibly lucky to turn those picks into important parts of a championship contender.
Just looked at some Doncic videos. Very impressive skills and poise for someone so young, but his athleticism isn’t off the charts and he’s already dominating because of his skills, so you can’t help but wonder what his ultimate ceiling in the NBA is.

#16 and #31 are VERY unlikely to help the Knicks in a meaningful way. Only the #1 matters.

How can you say the picks are useless?

Here we go again with the KP conclusions after 2.5 seasons. And KP was kicking ass through the first two months or so then slowed down for a month, quite common for younger players, then had the injury.
Before the injury KP was snowing every bit the potential we all could have dreamed of. He most definitely showed franchise changing ability— more than most predicted he would show within his first 2.5 seasons.
Pray he comes back healthy. He’s got the game.

I wouldnt use the word stuck, only reason I trade kp is if I could turn him into multiple assets

Knicks Draft
Kevin Knox SF. All the potential in the world and is 19 years old
Robert Smith 6’10” Center / Power Forward Best athlete in draft and powerful rebounder and defender to play next to KP
Knicks only dropping 3 slots and we all know we can hit a HR at 12-13

I know yesterday I said not trading back
But if Kanter opts out and Knicks can rid themselves of Lee and Thomas contracts that opens up a ton of space and gives them a lot of flexibility
At 0 points.

If the Clippers were foolish enough to take that deal or course you do. But they’re not going to.

Clippers have a hard cap, they might want to consolidate their cap hits
We have not yet seen the best of Porzingis, he’s still developing as a player and I don’t think it’s out of the question to see him develop into a guy that can average 28-8 with 3 blocks and shoot 50% from the field, 40% from 3 and 80% from the line.
If that’s not a “franchise changer” then I don’t know what is.
Clippers have a hard cap, they might want to consolidate their cap hits
How would taking on Mudiay’s contract, who makes more than the two draft picks combined, help them financially? And what does “consolidate their cap hits” even mean?

I didn't see he said mudiay...
12 and 13 combined is around 10 to 11 million in cap hits...
9 is around 7, they save 4 million in cap...
When you have a hard cap you can not go over by even a penny, no minimum contracts
Which freshmen guards do have defensive potential to write home about? It's usually freshmen with low usage rates like Zhaire Smith. Don't see many coming out that are polished on both ends of the floor.
I've never thought he'd be a lead guard. He is above average defensively, I think he just needs to work on spot up shooting and get to 37-38% to become above average. Knicks need a lead ball handler. But drafting by need is how you end up with role players, I want the best player available at 9.
The New York Knicks are targeting Trae Young with the ninth overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, according to multiple sources.
Young is considered an ideal fit alongside Frank Ntilikina, who is more of a shooting guard and has limited range.
Young's father recently revealed that New York would be a desirable destination as a big market.
The Knicks interviewed Young on Friday.
KEVIN O'CONNOR/THE RINGER
His defense is already very good, can he improve the jumper and add just a little drive game...
As for trae young he scares the crap out of me, him coming at 6 foot 2 relieved a little bit of that, but his turnovers really scare me and he began to chuck really bad second half of the season...
I am homer so I will root for whoever they draft but young scares me..
His passing is excellent and too often overlooked, but he's going to be a defensive liability. Scoring is going to make or break him, and I'm not sure he can pull it off.
I really like Sexton and Mikal Bridges. I'd be happy with either one. Also like Knox but 9 is a little early for him.
How about players at 36? Javon Carter is a player I really like.

Can you stop with the 5 of the last 13..
You know the Knicks lost the 2nd most games the second half of the season? The only team who lost more? Suns by 1 game...
So please stop with that stupid stat
Seems like fizdale is adding guys who specialize in player development
