With a great ol and running game he's Alex Smith without Elliott he's much worse. Eli hasn't had an ol in 6 fucking years, is it fun to pretend that isn't a thing? He may actually be ruined at this point a la David Carr but it's shortsighted to think some young 4th round pick is actually better in a vacuum when that guy hasn't done shit.
All 4 of the pother quarterbacks had higher passer ratings Â
if you include Foles postseason stats. How would you rate them any differently, especially when you consider age and recent production?
All 4 of the other QBs have far superior offensive lines. 3 of the 4 have far superior run games. Eli was throwing to studs such as Roger Lewis, Tavarres King, Kalif Raymond, Travis Rudolph, Darius Powe & Hunter Sharp.
So that's a really horrible argument and stat to point out.
meanwhile, Eli has not played well. So, you cannot argue with anyone who says Eli is last in the NFC East if you want to judge it by "what have you done for me lately". We can agree that Eli was hampered by an shitty OL and coach but he also contributed to his own poor performance. It does not mean Eli cannot play better than some of the other guys in the division.
Fans are funny. A guy who is in the business and knows his shit says something that fans agree with and they are happily quoting him. Then, he says something that is not popular and suddenly becomes an idiot who doesn't know shit.

I remember Chris Mortensen claiming Kapernick was the Second Coming of Joe Montana. RG3 was a transformative player. And Sanchez was the best QB in NY.
you're rooting for Dallas to have a good enough season that Jerry gives Dak a franchise QB contract like he says he's going to. Because on a good day Dak is JAG.
As far as Eli goes. As much as I love him we'll have to see. The OL should be at least NFL average this year even if RT is a weak spot. That's light years better than the past 3-5 years. We'll see what he can do with it.
Carson Wentz got them there
Alex Smith has always been underrated
Dak Prescott has a very good rookie year followed by a mediocre year
Eli has had a few very rough years
It’s totally reasonable to put Eli last. Maybe he will change it in the field this year (let’s hope so) but if he doesn’t, or struggles the list could be the same at the end of the season sans Foles. I don’t see what is so shocking about what Riddick said.

If you hire a guy to be a professional talent evaluator and he ranks quarterbacks based on passer rating without consideration to other circumstances, you need to look for a new talent evaluator.
Coming off last year alone, Eli was more JAG than franchise guy Â
The problem though is look at the cast of talent he was dealing with. Now, am I saying he's the best QB in the East with a fully healthy roster? No. It's Wentz first then everyone else. I do think Eli can solidify himself as the #2 QB rather easily this season. I actually think he can have a 4000 yard/25-30 TD year. My concerns though lie in 2019 and beyond.
Honestly, why would anyone care what Louis Riddick thinks? Â
Or any other "talking head," for that matter? Why take it as a personal affront? He gave his opinion - that's what he gets paid to do - and you know what they say about opinions.

the possibility that at 37 Eli is DONE. if that's the case, then the team is screwed and not taking a QB instead of Barkley was a big mistake. (I don't think this is the case). You have to consider that many QBs are done at this age. It's not just last year, he was poor in 2016 as well . And if it wasn't for OBJ, his stats would have been HIGHLY mediocre in 14-15 as well. I think Shurmur will get whatever Eli has left. How much is the key to the season.
Riddick didn’t get the job. Other than that , his commentary is meaningless .But it does sort of pierce the corporate veil about people having the gumption to be objective .

This is well said.
To be fair, the difference between being second (Smith) and being last (Eli) is not that big a gap. So it’s not like Eli has to play out of his mind to gain ground. Fortunately for him he likely has the most weapons to work with.
He’s definitely the guy who has the least amount and of excuses.
Smith has a ton of question marks with his offensive cast; and right now the Dallas receiving crew is a stable of rookies and a veteran who just crashed his Lamborghini into a tree and left the scene to go home to ride his electric bike...
Barkley will help him, hopefully his addition and the moves made to bolster the offensive line will pay off.
1. Take Barkley
2. Take a long look at all the QBs.
3. Seriously consider Chubb.
Thanks Louie.
+1.
"I only saw the Philly game and Eli looked great to me!"

Yup, lot of dumb dumb out there.
Wentz
Eli
Smith
Prescott
Foles....as he won't be playing
Team sport without a decent OL, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd WRs for most of season....
Like the situations aren't even remotely comparable. I am positive he would've had Dak #1 last season so whats that say?
This. It’s not that he isn’t a good QB but without the best Zol in NFL and Zeke he’s shockingly not a world beater. See the Seahawks w o Lynch
Hopefully.
"I only saw the Philly game and Eli looked great to me!"
Amazing there are people dumb enough to think wanting to keep Eli was a requirement to get the GM job...

To the OP's point...Riddick probably didn't realize that the correct response to the "What do you think of Eli?" interview question was...

No, what's amazing is that some posters don't recognize a joke when they read one.

Eli > Wentz on crutches
Underrated by what, stat nerds? Dude was on great teams and can't win important games.
I mean I can see slipped, declined, not as good, etc...
But poor? No chance no way.
