This one was a pleasant surprise. In the Breaking Bad / Ozark genre of quirky/violent/funny. Im not an SNL guy so didnt really know Bill Haider but he is very good, and Henry Winkler is funny as an LA acting teacher.. Its 8 30min epis and you can binge it in a cpl nights. Worthwhile
The last episode was really really great.
I agree Henry Winkler was great, so was the actor who plays Noho Hank.
Episode 7 was absolutely fantastic. Some of the best TV I've seen this year.
Every scene of him hitting on that cop was comedy gold.

Yes. Episode 7 had that exciting "Wow, this might up being a great TV series" feel about it.
Very entertaining season overall. I agree with the comment about Hader that another poster made. I've long been indifferent to him. But this show has gotten my attention regarding Hader's potential.
What I didn't expect is how dark this show would be. I have a hard time even calling it a comedy.
Possibly Hader's best SNL skit - ( New Window )
He was great in that movie in a supporting role.

But Henry Winkler needs more air time. He is such a scene stealer.

So much to love about this show. Hader, obviously. Sarah Goldberg is amazing. I love Winkler (Cousineau) and Detective Moss. Winkler gets a lot of screen time. I don't think they can or should add more lines for him. It's more important to keep his role fresh rather than overkill.
I am a big Stephen Root fan going back to News Radio. However, he has only been okay in this role.
One character that is hysterical is Detective Loach. I love the scene where Loach came in and told Moss that two ex-military guys were dead at the airfield. Moss says something to the effect of, and I bet you one of them is this guy, while turning over Hader's picture. Loach goes, No, but it would have been really cool if it was.
So glad they are going for Season 2. The finale was something else. The writers and creator probably don't even know where to go next (i.e. dream or reality).

Oh, I've paid plenty of attention. Hader's SNL work -- including your linked sketch -- just don't really do it for me. A light chuckle here and there, but no sense of major talent.
And while I like Superbad a lot, Hader isn't one of the primary reasons why.
Barry is the first I'm seeing Hader at this higher level.
