We went to see David Peterson pitch against the Charleston RiverDogs last night. We had seats in the first row right behind the 'Dogs dugout. There was a scout with a radar gun in the next section over. The stadium gun was faulty, showing readings all over the place.

The 2 starters were sharp in the early innings, a dual no-hitter thru 5. Peterson is a big boy -- he's listed at 6'6" and 240. I have a felling his fastball will pickup velocity as he fine tunes his mechanics. Some of his strikeouts came on a breaking pitch. Sanchez did a nice job handling a few in the dirt, and he picked a runner off 1B.

Peterson was victimized by an error at 3B which led to the first unearned run. The winning run was a homer in the 7th. Riley Park is not a launching pad....not many homers leave that yard. Must have been a mistake pitch because the guy who hit it out is batting .162 with 6 recent strikeouts.

Fermin played CF instead of SS, still leading off. New sS was Hansel Moreno, I have not heard of him -- tall kid at 6'4" he was gunned down trying to stretch a 2B into a 3B. Wuilmer Bueerra "played" but he stinks....swings at bad pitches and then looks at a called third strike.

Schedule says Columbia is coming back to Charleston at he end of May. There are a few good pitchers on the staff that I'd like to see before promotions (Cavallaro and Dibrell).
