I don't know why any of this is your damn business because your being a prick.

Sometimes you just want to go back to being a kid for a couple hours. I go through periods where I don't watch a ton of it and sometimes I watch Monday night Raw religiously because I am into the storyline.

It's a male soap opera with athletes involved. Sometimes you see some crazy staged things and its enjoyable.

Due to the scripted nature of the program. Film and television are not ad-libbed improv. They're scripted too. And yet you go into that knowing it, and without a second thought. I think it's safe to say everyone here knows the programs are scripted. So using that as a basis to argue against wrestling is a poor argument.

What the f*ck is the point?

This isn't Lassie... it isn't a story... this is supposedly a "sport" ...

And it's designed for kids, just like Sponge Bob. I mean, I have to assume you do NOT let your bosses know you follow this stuff. It would be a career killer in any large organization.

GO AWAY. STOP BEING A TROLL.

Seriously, do you hide this from your work colleagues? Do you watch WWE with others? Have you actually gone to a live event?

I'm being serious. I loved Gilligan's Island as a kid. I tried to watch an episode a little while ago, and couldn't watch. I'm not totally positive, but I think I know why it couldn't hold my interest. I'm fairly confident WWE would be the same thing. Why doesn't that happen to you? What holds you to WWE?

i like the show. Its fun at times and other times i just want to see the story unfold. I know its fake but so is the Punisher and most tv.

and whats your point now?

I wasn't making a point. I was (and still am) trying to understand an activity that you probably have to hide from certain others in your life (like your job ... and if you're single, from girls you hope to date).

There's nothing wrong with liking something. I just find it a bit odd, that's all. And you guys are certainly defensive about it ... and I understand that too.

being defensive because you clearly dont like it and basically bashing us in the process while trying to be nice. And i mean trying.

you dont want to understand why people like it. You just want a way to make fun of people watching it when no one has brought this up. Clearly we answered and you are still wondering.

I love it. Been watching since i was a kid. My wife knows, some in my work know. Its cool as fuck.

but you seem the type that would bully someone just for not liking what you like. Its pretty apparent. So dude, please do yourself a favor. Let us that like it continue talking about it and you can just go talk about what you like. Its clearly not this.

I have never in my life hid that I'm a wrestling fan. It's not a drug addiction or the hiring of a prostitute. It's in no way different than being a star wars fan. It's fantasy with a good display of athleticism.

When I was a kid I was obsessed. As an adult I respect the art form and watch the big events and go when I can. Raw gets DVR'd. Sometimes I watch. Sometimes I dont. But I'll keep up with it my entire life.

Thanks for explaining. I won't pretend to understand, because I honestly don't. But I appreciate trying to explain.

I'm not a big fantasy fan and maybe that is why I am finding it so difficult to relate (although the Hunger Games trilogy are probably my favorite books of all time). But Marvel was never something that interested me as a kid or an adult and, again, maybe it's just a genre thing for me.
It has nothing to do with that

you're just an asshole. Perhaps things are going poorly in your life so making fun of wrestling fans makes you feel better. Or, more likely, you're just an asshole.

Sorry. Carry on.
I've said it for a while,

and you can probably drop names contradicting me, but IMO they need a major face or heel that when you see them you immediately want to buy their tee shirt/paraphernalia or boo/hit with a bat of Hogan/Flair NWO proportions;Likely the heel they can throw faces at until they find a face that becomes a hero to stay true to the good conquering evil theme.
I watch for awhile every few months and nobody leaves me with major emotions, one way or another, nor is there any staying power with most of them.
And scripts have been nondescript. Maybe the network can help with some push on scripts.
That all said, I wish them well, and hope working with major network pumps up the quality of the product.

Forbes had an article on this. They need to make Roman Reigns a monster heel. The experiment is done.

Fox will want some sort of push for good storys or something.

They'll always be family friendly and I just don't think you'll ever see what you saw in the late 90s and early 00s again. I don't blame them for that either to be honest. There's no reason to risk it with the amount of money they are currently making. I wouldn't either.

They sacrificed the quality of the product. It's been basically unwatchable for the last 15 years. Sure there have been some cool times (the CM Punk era, Rated R Superstar Edge, Nexus, Cena not being on TV), but it's been mostly uninspired, recycled shit.

Wouldn't you toe the line and keep things status quo even if it meant a lesser product if domestically you were getting nearly $500 million a year to air your show before you even sell even ONE sponsorship, action figure, live event ticket, or one WWE network subscription?

Sure the hardcore wrestling fans (mainly vocal on the internet) have been upset, but too bad. The Vince "formula" has made the company an incredible amount of money compared to 20 years ago even though they have less people watching today than they did back then. Newsflash, it's not going anywhere. Especially now that they got paid and keep getting paid.

For cable TV, professional wrestling is second to sports. It's one of their last stands.

It would be tough for a streaming company to compete. WWE still is a live sporting event, so doesn't lend itself to binge watching.

Like sports, WWE probably has less eyes on it, but for cable, still has more viewers than a lot of other things they can do.
the crazy stat on Wrestling and WWE for that matter is

they are the NFL of Sports Entertainment.

Cities are battling to host the Wrestlemania event. Orlando apparently raked in 100 mil just for the Wrestlemania event a couple of years ago.

there were articles out a while back saying the average age of WWE fans is trending way older than it used to. This is obviously anecdotal, but I don't know of a single wrestling fan among my kids' friends. They all know who John Cena is because he hosts the Kids Choice awards, but they're not watching Raw, they don't have subscriptions to the network, they don't have the toys, or wear the gear, etc. In my town, you're more likely to see a kid with a Messi jersey than anything wrestling related. Luckily for WWE, they've figured out how to monetize the fans they do have. Seems like a one hour show on the Disney Channel or Nick would do a lot towards getting young kids into it.

That's my point. I got into wrestling because it was visibly available on TV during a time when, as a child, I would watch TV.

From a TV standpoint, I don't believe that injection point exists any longer.
One could argue that social media or YouTube has replaced that injection point but I don't know if either are as powerful.
