Schwartz: Flowers & Giants Get a Dose of New O-line Leader

Pugh, for all his love of talking, never really seemed like a leader type. Solder is making bank, but this is also what you want him to do.

Well, it certainly appears the Giants haven't given us much choice but to pray for that.

Is a huge guy with all those rings and all that experience on those great teams with that great coach he had and there he is working after practice, this is the kind of example from a team leader you need. To hear Flowers practicing with him is the best thing we have heard from the Oline in ages. If this Oline does gel this season, watch out for this offense.

Going from Pugh as a "leader" to Solder is such a massive upgrade. Pugh seemed like a clown off the field and quite simply was soft when it came time to suiting up and playing. It's hard being an effective leader when you are doing that.

I wonder if they will give Flowers a look at RG? I'm just looking forward to this Oline playing nastier and with some attitude...

In any order we overpaid Solder due to being desperate, because he is a very good if not top echelon talent, to help change our culture, and be a leader. It's not to see he apparently is assuming the responsibility of earning that unwritten parts of his contract also.

This is great OTA news.

It's just too much was asked of me and my body didn't like it so it gave me a concussion, a bad quad, a messed up mcl, and a screwed up back....It was the Giants' fault I was always injured not mine

Great way to show support to a struggling teammate. Obviously he's new and "playing nice" on day 1, but still - a very proactive & positive spin on an otherwise difficult situation
