A long time ago, wasn't there a secret shadow BBI site where some of the longer term members would go to get a reprieve from the idiocy that developed on this site?
22 years. A lot of the older members have abandoned the site except for information purposes as it has become an abusive place in many instances.
We used to have reasoned arguments...name calling and so forth was very rare and anyone who did it was usually banished.
Now, asshats say things just to post something...they contribute nothing. I usually just check to see if there is something new...otherwise I stay away.
was more civilized then what you see on this forum but I was threaten with banning when I accidently discussed the ending of Das Boot without saying Spoiler in my thread and that movie had been out for 15 years at the time.

We did have longer better discussions as thread would frequently last days and where now too many post any thought that come to mind as a new thread which buries most other discussions.
The quality is down but not because people were banished back then. It was a smaller group who policed ourselves with no moderators and it worked for that size of a group.
That's absolutely true, but it was still a pretty rough and tumble environment, particularly before the login was instituted. Back in those days there were a ton of political threads and they generally got pretty nasty.

Partially true. There were some very reasoned arguments and discussions, but they were overshadowed and outnumbered by the pissing contests. Hence the ban.
Were also a ton of NSFW threads. but for many you didnt really know it was nsfw until clicking. You'd be at work and click on a thread you thought was about football and would suddenly have tits on your screen. Or a big shlong.

I have been on this site since the Luke Petitgout draft as MindlessBanter. I stopped posting for a long time, and my account was deleted I presume for inactivity. I couldn't resist posting more recently to try to combat some of the stupidity I see dominating this site, so I created a new account
And the lack of a login system kept me away because there was no way to keep someone else from posting as you any time they felt like it. There was plenty of shit slinging back then.
But the secret BBI is a separate entity from the BBI Council of Elders, right?

Giants message board for a long time and lurked here, there were many members of that board who belonged here also. Officially came over after Yahoo shut down the message boards. Love the format here, Kudos to Eric and his crew!!
