Interesting article here. Makes a ton of sense.
If you think of the major sony studios they have either just released or are releasing major titles in the next year or so.
Last of Us 2
Spiderman
Red Dead 2
God Of War
Ghosts of Tushima
With these major titles taking 2-3 years (at least) to make these are likely the last major Triple A first party release on the system.
Finished GOW recently. While I thought it was an excellent game I dont think it was the masterpiece it was made out to be. I thought the leveling up system was poor. The boss battles were repetitive and the final boss battle was way too easy.
PS4 - (
New Window )
Likely, but not on this gen and probably not for a few more years. Red Dead 2 is a huge undertaking and rockstar takes their time (which is a good thing). They are also still supporting GTA5 I believe.
I think they should hold off for a while, I got GTA fatigue with 5 and haven’t craved playing again in years. But that’s just me.
I was given a Switch last year as a birthday gift out of the blue. Loved Mario Kart and Mario Odyssey, but once again Nintendo 3rd party titles is lacking. Sure they'll release another Smash Brothers, and Metroid, but the fact that we only get one Mario and one Zelda per system generation is frustrating.
Looking forward to RD2 but other than that too many games are too much like other games IMO.
Need more split screen couch co-op as well. You can play online with other people but siblings or parents/children can't sit and play most games together.

Be patient. The switch is just warming up. They released smack dab in the middle of developers making games for PS4 and XBox One, they weren’t going to get immediate 3rd party support.
They are porting some big games while releasing their own AAA titles which are alone worth getting the Switch for. If you like RPGs you have to be a fan of the Switch, the 3rd party support there is and will be huge. Also keep in mind that they are their own experience, they aren’t trying to replace PS or Xbox users, but to instead add onto it and provide a different experience.
