Jets trade Christian Hackenberg

Del Shofner : 5/22/2018 5:23 pm
to Oakland for conditional draft pick.

Not surprising, they had to do something. Didn't get much for him, though, considering he's a recent 2d-rounder.

Funny...

Hackenberg attended the Gruden FFCA Camp before the 2016 draft. And Gruden and he seemed to really hit it off.

Makes me wonder if that was instrumental in this decision...

DG asleep at the wheel.

FWIW: We handed Big Ben to Pittsburgh.
In the big picture, we got McKenzie and Snacks from them, so I'm fine with them getting SD, if they can develop him; it's the J E T S after all.
Or we dodged the bullet that the Jets got, and one that will

Except I didn't say that.

I said I find it fascinating how two very unlikely things that both franchises have been looking for decades, took place within a few months of eachother. That's literally it.

Amazing how sensitive some are. Including the geek 'map' who posted above me.

Not really. Everyone knew the Jets were going to take a QB for a long time. It was a no brainer decision for them.

As for the Eagles.. they won. It sucks. But they had a good team. I'm over it.

Yes, because I was one of the ones that wanted a QB, that means that I cannot state how the Jets possibly drafting their franchise QB and the Eagles winning the SB within a few months of eachother was somewhat interesting to me. I guess I should point out I am a big 'dates in history' guy. So, I guess me posting that without that context on here to people who don't know that isn't quite the same.

To me, it read like...

The division rival just won a SB... the cross-town NY team just potentially drafted a franchise QB. What are we doing here?

If you were honestly just interested by those two things - my fault. Would it be as interesting if it was the Colts and Cardinals, though? I have a hard time seeing the same comment being made if it were teams like that instead. Which is why I didn't think there was anything particularly noteworthy about either thing. Someone wins the SB every year... teams draft QB's every year.

The only common thread between the Eagles and Jets is the Giants. So, that's why I responded in kind.

No big.

we handed them absolutely nothing. We made the best decision for the best interest of our own franchise and the Jets did the same for themselves. These two decisions were completely independent of each other.

No problem. I could see that.

Yeah, I hate the Eagles, and I don't care for the Jets at all. Their close proximity plays a part, too. I don't know what to expect from the Eagles this year. I could see them being good or having a bit of a letdown after last year's SB win. The Jets still need quite a bit of work to become a legit contender. I'm not putting either team over next year as locks to be good-great teams.
I don’t get why the Jets and both any other team.

Because we share a field or initials? Pretty soft.. the Jets are a random irrelevancy to the Giants..might as well mention my high school team in comparison,

Only the NFC East teams count in comparison and then maybe other nfc teams. But, the true reality is, we should simply be measuring our selves against ourselves and our expectations and our growth

The Jets are a manufactured comparison, a manufactured story...fake news.

It was more about how two franchises, one of which have been trying to win that elusive championship (Philly) and the other of which that has been searching for a franchise QB, *might* have drafted one, and both found what was elduing them for decades within a few months of eachother.

That's literally it.

That is an unfair shot at Webb. Like Webb, everyone thought Hack needed a redshirt year, but at least the Giants trusted Webb enough to play a fucking preseason game! Hack played 2 years and never took a snap, even in preseason. THAT is a bad pick.

Maybe it's because I have Jets' fans in my family or that I no longer live in the NYC area so I never hear trash talk from Jets' fans but I don't consider them any sort of rival. If I ever run into a Jets' fan locally, there is usually somewhat of a comradery.
