NFT: Fitbit sleep tracking...

OnTap : 5/23/2018 8:32 am
I have a fitbit charge 2 i think and i track my sleep. With the old software looked like I slept like a baby every night 7.5 hrs +... now with the enhanced sleep tracker shows me awake/restless an hour or so each night or so getting 5-5.5 hours sleep even though i'm in bed for 7 or so.

It's making me a bit obsessive about sleep to the point where I put so much pressure on myself to get sleep that i don't sleep as well (if that makes sense). And of course sleeping without it doesn't help because now it's in my head!

Anyone have comparable stats or insights? Do you sleep well even though this thing says you're essentially dancing in the night?

Yeah, well - if your fitness tracker is stressing you

to the point where you can't sleep, then maybe it's not for you.

And if you were in bed for 7 hours and it was reporting 7 hours of sleep, then something was wrong. Between the time it takes to actually fall asleep, and fluctuating sleep cycles while you're asleep, you shouldn't really break 85%.
According to my Charge 2

I was in bed for 8:40 last night and asleep for 7:06. That is pretty representative of my time asleep as a percentage of time in bed.
Take it off

having another thing to worry and stress about seems like a no brained to get rid of. You also don’t know how accurate it is. If you really are worried go get a sleep study done, I wouldn’t rely on a watch for that.

I have an Apple Watch and sometimes wear it to bed to see my heart rate through the night. Wouldn’t rely on it for anything else though.

The one I have has only confirmed what my wife and I already knew. I literally pass away from the hours of 11:30pm to 6:30am on average every day. It pretty much flatlines until I wake up for the day. My wife's is the total opposite. She never sleeps soundly.
Let's get this straight

Before Fitbit - no problem
After Fitbit - Problem

The solution is simple.
The fitbit sleep tracking does seem wonky

I don't get what I'd consider to be high quality sleep, but it routinely shows me getting 2-3 hours of "sleep" while I'm "restless" for another 4-5 hours. Definitely perplexing, and like you it's made me examine whether or not I'm actually getting "good" sleep.

Not really that simple. I think his concern is that fitbit may or may not be saying he has some sleep issue.

Is the wrist/forearm your fitbit is on considerably bigger than the other arm.......?

I wonder how accurate the HRM is on the Apple Watch.

It tells me I basically have athlete-level heart rate and has since I got it. My resting rate is like 50bpm and I really only jump over 100bpm during exercise.

Yesterday my range was 52-95 with a resting rate of 56.

I'm in decent shape and I'm only 33 - but I was surprised to see how low my resting rate was. Some of my friends jump into the 160's pretty regularly (not resting, obviously)
here is a idea

It’s pretty much the most accurate on the market according the most of the articles I read. Your hearts rate sounds normal and unless you are working out being under 100 also seems normal. There’s days I top out at 95, my resting is in the low 40’s (always has been but I’m curious when sleeping).
I had a FitBit
Knineteen : 5/23/2018 11:06 pm : link
and IIRC, it stated that up to 30 restless "incidents" per night could be considered normal.

I think your mileage may vary with stuff like this.
