Been 6 years since I Am Gemini and while it wasn’t my favorite, their previous albums were pure gold.

Hope they continue
Tool is in the studio
Metnut : 5/23/2018 11:10 am : link
and the recording process for the new album has started. Doesn't mean anything until see it, but that's better news that we've heard in a while.

They (Tool) still sounded awesome at Governor's Ball in NY. I've heard mixed things about APC recently.

Which is Black Francis (Pixies) solo band. Their stuff was incredible from '97-'03 between his post-Pixies solo career and the 2004 Pixies reunion.

All My Ghosts one of the more underrated songs. Headache is great too though I think that's just FB, not FB&the C

Agree on All My Ghosts. My favorite stuff was when they got into slide/pedal steel guitars.
St. Francis Dam Disaster - ( New Window )

though that's unlikely, since I don't think they're working on anything. Just a reunion tour for the 10th anniversary of The '59 Sound. Holy shit, 10 years, seems like yesterday.

Came here to post this. I like Brian Fallon's solo material, but I miss the power of the Gaslight Anthem. His solo stuff just isn't the same.

I almost listed them, too. However, I would want them only if they'd recreat their sound from the IRS years. Fables, Pageant, Document, Murumur, Reckoning. REM channel is my go-to on Pandora. A gateway to tons of good music.

I hear you. That was a great time for them. At the same time, they were always pushing for a new sound and never wanted to stand still. So I liked that they were searching for new answers despite a few times coming up short...

considering how great the last two albums are, that's the biggest shame in them retiring.

S&A was GREAT.. and to me, Clockwork was AMAZING. I can only imagine how the next album would've been.

At least the ended on a high note with CA and more specifically The Garden.

The MARS VOLTA...
x meadowlander : 5/23/2018 1:54 pm : link
...Cedric and Omar have been working with 'At the Drive In' for several years, but the VOLTA put on one of the best live shows I've ever seen - would love to see them return.

UNCLE TUPELO - broke up in 94', Tweedy and Fararr went on to greatness with Wilco and Son Volt, respectively. What could they do with another 20 years under their belt?

Neil Young and the Santa Monica Flyers - while Jack Nietche and Ben Keith have both moved on, Neil with Nils Lofgren offers a different flavor from any of his other lineups - Tonight's the Night is a masterpiece, and it's a shame he never tried to recapture that vibe.

ARC ANGELS! - Most annoying 'One and Done' band ever. Their debut was brilliant, Charlie Sexton, Doyle Bramall III and 'Double Trouble' - excellent blues/rock band, were fantastic live. One album and out - talk of new material in 09 only produced a live album with a few new tracks. BAH!

Black Crowes

I WISH!!! I could see it happening, eventually.

UNCLE TUPELO - broke up in 94', Tweedy and Fararr went on to greatness with Wilco and Son Volt, respectively. What could they do with another 20 years under their belt? Tweedy would in a heartbeat.. Jay? Not so much. He has a lot of bitterness and animosity towards Tweedy.

Them Crooked Vultures hell yeah. I bet they all have a million other projects tho (just learned Josh Homme also produced an Artic Monkeys album)

Blind Melon. Loved the one post Shannon album and saw them live. Great voice to follow, decent new stuff...tho I thought they dropped that guy

Black Crowes. One of the best rock voices of our time IMO. Lesser fave track "Go Faster"

Mars Volta. Cant go against them tho I think my mind has been blown to many times to listen to even my old faves too often. They are sick. Also as a Sublime fan loved to hear the Ikey Owens on keys connection...that's some skills

I'd therefore say Sublime, but <sheds tear>

Chris is a flaming bag of shit. Seriously. I have stories that will shiver...

That being said, enjoy the new Magpie Salute album. Closest thing to a Crowes album since Warpaint, and probably MORE Crowes than that album. Riff driven, not jam noodling and country twang.

Thanks for the Magpie suggestion. I like the song Omission and covers of Fearless & Wiser Time to boot. Definitely reminds of Crowes

Even if Neil changed his mind from retirement,Geddy Lee's voice is shot. Kaput. Wasted. Ruined. Worn out. Ridden hard and put away wet.
He sounded mostly awful on the last 3 tours live and everyone noticed.
Rush is done.....

But, besides Tool (please oh please!!!) I'm waiting for a new one from SLIPKNOT. Who by the way, puts on one hell of a show!

I'm also waiting on Within Temptation. Great band from the Netherlands.

Hogwash. Their last two albums are top notch. If they put out another album at that high level I doubt any Rush fan would complain.

I haven't listened to it in over a decade. It was a very odd album. Some of it I liked, some of it I didn't.
Read somewhere that Maynard called out Tool at a concert
widmerseyebrow : 5/24/2018 9:33 am : link
To finish their parts so they can get the album out. From what I gather in interviews its the instrumental side that moves at a glacial pace and hence all of Maynard's side projects.
