Hey all, just booked our flights for Houston and Charlotte and looking for any advice. Areas to stay, areas to avoid, good drinking bars, must see attractions, must eat local grub or any other suggestions. Any other BBI'ers going? Flying in Friday, out Monday and renting a car in both cases so we can see the area. Thanks for your help.
I'd recommend staying uptown. Can't think of a bad hotel now that they tore the one dump down.
Hawthorne's Pizza on 7th and Hawthorne is a short drive from uptown, pretty good NY style pizza (for Charlotte). Get the Elizabeth special pizza and the Garlic Knots (which are huge and ridiculous).
Beef and Bottle on South Blvd a little longer drive from uptown but still not too far, is an old school dive of a steak house.
FYI the visiting team usually stays at The Zaza Hotel right by my office.
Is their any general advice on buying tickets? Just go through Stubhub? Any thoughts on whether it'd be better to buy now or wait until closer to gameday?

I'm lazy, so I just do ticketmaster or stubhub unless I stumble across someone I know looking to sell tix. I wouldn't buy now unless you see a good deal, just looked at prices and they were way high.
I'm sure FatMan would love to help out by buying a personalized jersey from you.
103- Dallas is a great trip. There's a great group of guys that run their tailgate and is a must do trip at one point for any Giant fan. We already did Atl in 2007, but sounds like that is going to be a heck of a party this year.
FMiC- We'd be honored to join the tailgate. As it gets closer if there is anything specific we can bring let me know, otherwise we'll bring some good supplies.
Houston Giant- Thanks for the offer, I'll send you an email this evening.
I usually try and get tickets right when they go on sale off Stubhub. There always seem to be a few people that just want to make a little profit and know they have their seats sold. I think I'm late this year. Some will say to wait to game day, but I'm not flying out without seats. Ever since the NFL let teams charge "premium" prices for 2 games it seems the Giants get that designation in every city they visit. Early season games tend to hold their value as well because people are hungry for football, and every team still has a chance.
Thanks again to everyone else. Look forward to seeing you all on the road.
But we got beat down bad that game
Only two live football games and he's yet to see the Giants score a point! Really struggling with whether he goes to the game or I leave him in the car after the tailgate.
He's undefeated at Yankee games.

Fatman -- that's one of the funniest things I've read in some time -- that really tickled the ol' funny bone
The Giants have been shutout 5 times in his lifetime (he's 16), and the two games I've taken him to they don't score.
Although looking back at the seasons, the Giants beat the Panthers the year they were shut out by the Falcons. That was the game Ramses Barden went off. He didn't go to that game - he went the following year when they were blanked.
If he had gone the year prior, Barden would have half the career stats he ended up with:)

I was at that game, I joined your tailgate, I met Peter in Atlanta, had a good time, obviously the game was a blast especially with Cammy doing his thing at the post game presser
