Anyone here ever do it? :) I have been thinking about getting a thinner jazz box to complement my Heritage H-575 (which is 2.75 inches thick). I also have a '77 Les Paul Custom, but I don't play that one much. I was leaning toward trying a D'Angelico SS, a Comins, and a Guild T-50 Slim. I had no intention of buying a guitar today, but I loved it so much that I had to pull the trigger. The guitar feels and sounds fantastic.

This is one of the Korean made ones. My teacher was raving about them several years ago. I was skeptical, but then found some great online reviews. Within 5 seconds of trying it, I knew I was going to buy it. The neck feels fantastic.

I guess it wasn't a big seller because Ibanez discontinued it and you could get it for a song.
BTW the only online place I'd buy from is Sweetwater.
Here is a list of my recent "impulse guitar purchases" in the last 6 months..
2014 - ESP EII ST2 Trans Black MIJ
2014 - Music Man John Petrucci JP6 El Dorado Gold
1999 - Ibanez JS1000 Black Pearl
1992 - Fender American Classic with Floyd Rose Candy Apple Red
1992 - Fender American Classic with Floyd Rose Vintage White
I have serious GAS.. lol. Guitar Acquisition Syndrome
I am not a big acoustic guy. I have a Taylor DN3 which fills the need, plus the Music Man JP6 has the piezo pickup. I run everything through my Helix. I have patches for all types of acoustic guitars..(impulses) So when I plug in I can dial up a Martin or a Guild.

Wow. A lot of guitars. I don't have GAS, which is why I am a little surprised at myself. The last electric guitar I bought was in 1999. Prior to that it was in 1982. ;) I just couldn't resist this one though. I didn't even care about trying any others on my list after I played it. It is exactly what I was looking for.

My first electric guitar was an Ibanez artist during the very early 1980s.
Strangely enough, model is not available right now?

Along the same lines, when I was 16, I blew all my summer job cash on a Gretsch G5120 semi-hollow. Worth every penny, 13 years later.
lol - here's a true story. By way of background, although I've played a lot of guitar and bass guitar in my life, some years ago I decided to stop playing guitar and take up upright bass and mandolin, while continuing with bass guitar. I don't regret that decision at all as especially the upright bass leads to a lot of gigs.
Anyway, this was maybe 10 years ago. When I brought home my first upright bass it was in the living room, and when my wife got home that night she said "What's that thing? It's huge." I explained.
Then I wanted a mandolin (and trust me, decent ones are not cheap - they're more than guitars of equivalent quality). But I felt kind of guilty springing for the mando as it was another instrument and I had recently gotten the upright. When I finally got one, I moved the upright bass down into the basement practice space and had the mandolin in the living room instead.
When my wife got home that night she said "What's that thing?" I said, "remember how big that upright bass was - I knew you didn't want such a big instrument taking up space in the living room so I got this little one to practice on up here."
I got points for being such a considerate husband!

Nice. That looks like a traditional jazz box. I am guessing it is in the neighborhood of 2.75 to 3 inches deep?
Got the bass last week, Epiphone Toby Deluxe (a bit noisy but it plays so great for this old guitarist).

How much do they go for these days? I paid $400 for my '77 Gibson Les Paul Custom in 1982.
I've wanted an electric with a fixed bridge for a while now so I can finally check that off the list. Maybe I'll upgrade some of the hardware down the road if I ever get around to doing that for some of the others.
I also picked up a Roland drumkit in December, I think the studio is full for some time.

Wow. I haven't kept up with pricing on Les Pauls, but my guess would have been that they start around $2500. I am surprised. Are they making some of them outside of the U.S. now?
It’s called a Faded T. The finish is supposed to look old I guess but they are really hit or miss. I think I lucked out by finding a nice looking one, the worn brown one I saw looked like they had pulled it from sewage.

I googled a bit. Looks like there is a very wide range from about 1k to 5k+ for new Les Pauls.

Ha. Cool. I played in a jazz quartet for a few years that had drums, bass, guitar, and mandolin. We were looking for a sax player but ended up with a mandolin guy instead. It's a pretty cool sound. He got me into David Grisham.
A bit deeper actually: Body dimensions L x W x Max D (inches): 18-7/8" x 14-1/2" x 3-5/8"
It is a true hollow body, not a semi-hollow.
Priorities though - I barely play plugged anymore - I've damn near played a hole into my old Martin D-15 - I'm due for an acoustic upgrade.

Wow. That is deep. That's even deeper than an ES-175. I think those are 3.5. I can't play guitars like that anymore as an old man. They start to bother my shoulder after a while.
And 6k+ as an impulsive buy is not only divorce territory, I still have to wait 6 months for the guitar to come.
But I am seriously considering putting a deposit down to get one similar to the 10th one down on here. A dark version of Wolf, but with more ornamentation, including a Steal Your Face logo on the body.
