NFT: Dental Implants?

capegman : 5/23/2018 9:08 pm
I'm sick of missing 2 side teeth. I hate smiling now.
My dentist is recommending 2 implants.

Anyone had any experiences positive or negative with them?
The price is outrageous obviously. If you had them are you happy you did it or do you regret it for any reason?
I have one.

In the very front. I never notice it and could probably crack walnuts with it. It took a few weeks to adjust to but now it just feels and looks like a normal tooth.

If you can afford it, you will not regret it. But yes, it is crazy expensive.

Insurance covered about half for me, well worth it. I think they can also make a bridge using the teeth on either side, which may cost less.
I have one.

Had it for about 7 or 8 years. No problems with it at all.
Just in case you haven't heard, it's crazy expensive.
They asked me what color

I wanted and I said "meth".

Chicks love them.

I got one last year.

It cost me more than 5K out of pocket. Insurance covered nothing. Not even the crown. I got a bridge for a different tooth and insurance covered 100%. But the bridge already needs replacing (less than 10 yrs old) and it’s generally not as good as the implant in terms of “feel”.

I prefer the implant, but if another tooth goes, I think I would do the bridge because I can’t afford the implants.
I'm very happy with mine

but it was expensive and a long process. Bad tooth pulled then wait for the area to heal. Put implant in, wait for it to take. Uncover implant and get a cap....and in my case find out that the implant hadn't taken and had to be removed. Start all over again. About 15 months for the whole thing. The failure rate is pretty low though so most don't need the do over and you already have your bad teeth out so definitely won't be so long in your case. Fortunately I didn't get charged for the second implant or the any of the related visits. The surgeon took it almost as a personal affront that the first one failed.
got them for my dog.

He looks great.

I'm not sure if you're in NJ

But if so you can go to Rutgers Dental School in Newark. I had two implants done, out of pocket was $2,300 for both. Yes, the students do the work but it's under the direct instruction of a Dentist. It was cost effective and the work was very professional.
thanks

The Dentists in Mexico are excellent. The cost is about a third of what you pay in the States. My experience in Mexico was much better then my experience with a dentist up here.

are you in Massachusetts? If so, go to Dr. Fugazzotto (not made up). He's on the cutting edge of this stuff.

It's highly worth the cost, but the procedure is a pain in the ass since they can't put a crown on until after the implant fuses to the bone (4-6 weeks). Fugazaotto used plasma therapy to speed up recovery, this was before it was main stream to use in injury recovery.
a long and expensive process

but in the end well worth it. If it a visible tooth make sure you get a true color match
Mini implants
smorgan741 : 5/24/2018 8:46 am : link
Half the cost and no waiting like traditional implants. I have 10 for 12,000.00. I use the implants to do snap in partial dentures. Also can be used for single teeth. I can eat anything. Some say they don't last and its not permanent which is a lie. U have to find someone trained for the minis. The dentist who knock them arnt trained to do these or certified. Guarantee u pay less then 5 grand and walk out done in 2 visits. Any questions and I will be happy to discuss.
I had

A three tooth implant done 10 years ago.My back 3 teeth on my lower left side. It was a long process being I had to wait for regrowth of the bone. Haven't had a problem since. Well worth the expense.
The only caveat is, ground cadaver bone was used to speed up the bone growth. It was probably the meds. but I felt there was someone else with me that first night.
not cheap
