Hell, if the caps win a cup, there's even a slight chance they'll talk about something other than the skins on the radio.

I never minded the Caps until I started listening to their radio broadcaster who is annoying you know what.

My only consolation if the Caps win is that should the Skins ever pull a miracle out of their hat and win something, the Caps would be the ones remembered for bringing the first title to DC in years. That would piss off Danny boy to no end as he wanted to be the "savior" of DC sports

fro the Caps is derived from the many playoff battles over the years with the Blueshirts and there's just something about the Ovie meme of him holding a golf bag over his head that still gives me some satisfaction. That said, tony stg is one of the good guys on BBI, and I might be able to see my way to wishing him a little bit of luck.

but for me, hockey is just something where I track box scores from time to time (the Rangers being my team of choice). I'm a big fan of Tony Kornheiser, so I listen to his show and I'm genuinely excited for Caps fans. It also helps that I don't know any annoying Caps fans personally. I know a LOT of annoying Redskins fans (though to be honest, nothing here is worse than the Saints fans I knew when I lived in New Orleans. Saints fans are INSUFFERABLE).

So, I'm basically pro-Caps, as long as they're not beating the Rangers.

I'm a Giants fan and a Nats fan (I don't really follow basketball or hockey). While I loved football from day one, I didn't get into baseball until I was older and after we had moved down here - now I'm surprised by how much I love baseball.

While I don't like the Skins, I don't hate them either. To me, Dallas and the Eagles were always despicable, but the Skins never bothered me much. They were a distant third in terms of my least favorite NFC East team. They never really got in our way. I think Snyder is awful and I feel sorry for my Skins fans friends, but I don't hate the Skins like I do the Cowboys and Eagles. Maybe that's why it doesn't bother me much that the Caps are doing well.

I will root for the success of all the other teams and have become a pretty big Capitals fan since moving here in 1998. I really like hockey as a spectator sport and hope the Caps can pull this off. They are playing really well right now and really should have ended the series in 5-6 games only really being outplayed in game 3.

Vegas will be a tough out, but the Caps have been cruising on the road this postseason so the fact that Vegas has 4 potential games at home is probably a good thing for the Caps.

but it is oddly more enjoyable down here when DC teams are at least competitive. Personally for me as a non-hockey fan, if any of their teams has to win then the Caps is the least of all evils. Much better them than the skins, nats or wiz.

so I started rooting for the Yankees and the Giants. When I got interested in basketball I started rooting for the Syracuse Nationals who moved to Phily to become the 76ers and traded to get Wilt back.


As far as hockey was concerned I rooted for the home town RPI Engineers. I didn't follow the pros that much.

I eventually moved to the DC area and when the Caps came into existence they were woeful. After a few years I started rooting for them as underdogs. Now I'm stuck with them.

Yes, I hate the Caps.

I have been and will be routing for the Caps to win the cup. Your assumption that most cap fans are also redskins fans is incorrect. Most of the fans I know are Ravens fans or cheer for other teams.

Glad they are finally able to get over the hump and make it to the Finals.

like to see them win the Cup. Ovechkin has been the soul of that team for years. He deserves to win it all.

But I go to a few Caps game each season and I'm rooting for them.

and I don't really hate the Skins. I actually pity their fans, who have fallen from fans of a top notch organization under Jack Kent Cooke and Joe Gibbs. The fact that my wife is a big Skins fan makes me have a soft spot for them.

She is also a bit of a Caps fan, though hardly a diehard. So I am happy for them. Let this town have a moment of happiness.

But I'm rooting for Vegas. Now because of any hatred toward the Caps, but because it's such a cool story!

Annoyingly smug for a team that so far hasn't won shite. It's good for the area though, winning makes people happier but I want them miserable because I hate them all.

Truth

I had grown up an Islander and then a Ranger fan, but the more time I spent down here and the more and more the Caps choked the more I started to root for them. And Ovie provides tickets for special needs kids, and I've been fortunate to attend the games with my autistic son as a result.

I was never a National league fan so rooting for the Nationals was natural for me.

I've always hated the Redskins.

Since you share my intense dislike of the Redskins. But I'm firmly in Camp Joey/Greg on this one.

... because I knew their fans were the same ones that supported the Heat. That rule applies just about everywhere.

With that being said, I wasted too much energy over the year hating certain teams and their fans. It was not healthy. I do my best to let pro sports roll off my back.

The Eagles winning the Super Bowl was and is quite a challenge.

With that being said, I would feel warm and happy inside if Vegas beats the Capitals.

But some of my friends are Caps fans so I would be OK with them winning. As a Nationals fan, I hope they take the cue from a successful DC team and continue a positive trend through to the END of October with the Deadskins going in the opposite direction starting the first game in September.

I’m a Rangers fan, but had Caps season tix for a few years. Yes, most are Skins fans which made it hard to root for them at times. I’m more of a hockey fan and it makes me happy to see the DC hockey team win vs all of the other primary DC sports. Crazy how many people who know so little are talking about the Caps. This town hasn’t won anything besides MSL in over 30 years.
