in a while. Oswalt might be the only viable starting arm we have in the system that could help in Queens this year.

Glad to see Alonso go long again. Plaw/Mezo should at least be a servicable C tandem.
McNeil

didn't play game 2, some speculated he was coming up... he's not. He's in the Bing lineup this morning.

Tim Peterson

Reminds me of Sewald. Not the most overpowering stuff but just dominant at every level.

Dominant? His career ERA is over 4. Even his 2018 FIP is over 3.25 and 2018 ERA close to 4. He's a 27 year old relief pitcher.

Josh Hader is dominant not Paul Sewald. If Sewald is "dominant" then most decent teams in MLB have multiple dominant relievers.

Sewald has pitched good this year but please relax with the constant hyperbole.
Dude? Wtf is your problem?
ZGiants98 : 5/24/2018 1:01 pm : link
I was talking about how Sewald dominated every level in the minors without the best stuff. Nobody was talking about the majors.

No problem here. You didn't say minors in your post, and I thought it was a major stretch to say Sewald was dominant at every level since MLB is the one that matters.

I guess since it's a minor league thread, I could've read it differently so my bad on that for jumping all over you. But I'm just really frustrated with the state of the franchise lately and think that people need to be harder on Wilpon/Sandy unless things turn around fast or else we'll get this organization fixed.

Jacob deGrom has a 0.47 ERA this month and we're still losing games he pitches.

Disgraceful.
I read a tweet last night
pjcas18 : 5/24/2018 2:30 pm : link
that said deGrom has pitched 58.1 innings and the Mets have been losing a grand total of 3 innings while he's on the mound.

The Mets are 5 - 5 in games deGrom starts (including the 1IP pitched game)

that's hard to do given how dominant he's been.

I misinterpreted Z's post also. I thought he was saying that Peterson has been dominant at ever level of the minors.

Safe to say Desmond Lindsay is another wasted pick?
Jake should be in the running for NL Cy Young

Starting to look like one. The amount of "blown" early picks is staggering.

He absolutely is, W-L record is the worse barometer for measuring a pitchers performance.

Yup. Really bad.

If the Mets miss the postseason again this year, he's gotta go. No more excuses.

Not sure what you are talking about but you know we are talking about the reliever, not the Mets first-round pick last year right? Timmy P in AA over 55 innings had a 1.14 ERA, 2.09 FIP last year and now in pitching hell Vegas 2.36 ERA, 2.74 FIP. That's pretty dominant.

Yes I am well aware that you weren't referring to the Mets 1st round pick. Tim Peterson was very impressive over the past two years but from his stats he appeared to struggle early with each promotion but after being sent down and returning he adjusted and pitched well. That is a good sign as it shows he can adjust.
When Omar was fired
Vanzetti : 5/25/2018 3:27 am : link
I think very few of us would have called him a great drafter or acquirer of minor league talent . However, in the years after he left, Degrom and Harvey emerged, Matz came back, Turner, Murphy and Dickey became great, Familia, Duda and all the rest. And Omar's reputation was much higher five years after he left than when he actually left.

So I think Z has a point about Sandy. Yes, things look bad now, but you have to see what happens. Alonso, Nimmo, and McNeil could change his profile if they continue on their current paths.
