at the beginning of the season. His velocity was down and he was getting hit hard. A back to form Kahnle would really help this pen out, which has not lived up to expectations.
A pitcher will be sent down to make room for Bird tomorrow. Not Austin.
Makes sense, who would you rather have on the team...Tyler Austin or Gio Gallegos?! Even with our starting rotation that doesn't go deep besides Sevy...we recently went two weeks where Cole and Hale pitched once or something crazy like that. So they really have to get rid of that 13th pitcher. If anything, with German now in rotation, bring up someone to replace Cole that is a long man. Having a long man to eat up b.s. innings will make carrying 7 relievers fine. Almost all teams carry 7 relievers anyway.
So my previous thread should have said would you rather have Cole or Austin? And a long reliever wouldn't be replacing Cole but either Holder or Shreve. Which probably won't happen since Shreve is out of options and Holder is pitching really well. So that does make it a little dicier. Not having a true long man, or a starting pitching staff that goes deep...does place a greater need on a 8 relievers. But still, 7 man bullpens is something new the past few years...used to be 6. So we really shouldn't need 8. And getting back Kahnle will only help.
the Yanks have had more bad ball/strike calls against them than any other team in baseball so far this season.
Not sure where their source is, doing some googly-moogly, but if that’s right, apparently it’s not just us being homers
I posted this the other night. Judge most no strike zone called strikes in MLB and Yankees most non strike zone called strikes.....stat cast
Interesting, thanks. To that note, so far tonight this umps zone has been pretty correct as far as I’ve seen, and the Yanks drew a couple walks bc he wouldn’t give this Angels guy an extra 6 inches
RE: RE: Kay and O’Neill just commented that there was stats to prove Â

And (IIRC) the Judge thing is crazy 19% vs 16% next highest player (or was it league avg.?)
All Rise!
A little wild. Although the walk to Trout was basically intentional

He's really labored in the first 3 innings. How does his stuff look?

His breaking stuff is off. FB is great. Trouble throwing the slider for strikes.
Pffft. Needed up higher. Blew the 1st one past him and it was up. 2nd one was a touch lower, but not a bad pitch.
This year, meh.
He's hitting .314/.388/.643 in May
