Red Sparrow was pretty good. Plus Jennifer Lawrence's tattays are on full display.

Ehhh....I give it a B

It depends what you like. I actually enjoyed Den of Thieves with Gerard Butler. It's kind of like a training day/oceans 11 hybrid (though not even in the same stratosphere of quality of either film)

If you like historical stuff both Churchill and Dunkirk were good too.
Black Panther

Awesome

3 Billboards was a good movie with no satisfactory ending
loved 3 billboards
markky : 5/26/2018 4:52 pm : link
darkest hour was good. saw both of them multiple times.

dunkirk thumbs up.

shape of water also good, but I thought 3 billboards should win best picture. shape of water had a great and recognizable cast.

an odd but funny one is Death of Stalin. Great cast, worth watching. a spoof of history but probably very close to the truth.
was bored so I watched Jack Reacher: Never Go Back
pjcas18 : 5/26/2018 4:54 pm : link
I've never seen the first one, but I read all the Jack Reacher books by Lee Child.

I hated the idea of Tom Cruise playing Jack Reacher, since Cruise is about as opposite as you can get from the book Jack Reacher.

but...like him or hate him, Tom Cruise is a good actor and makes entertaining movies (for the most part).

I enjoyed Jack Reacher never go back and I'll now probably watch Jack Reacher too.

entertaining and you start to feel sorry for Harding.
Darkest Hour
spike : 5/26/2018 5:05 pm : link
great film led by a great actor who deserved the Oscar win.
Lady Bird

quirky film about mother daughter relationship but not terribly memorable.

CoCo was a fantastic animated film about family, dead and alive. Great for kids 7 and above.
Loving Vincent
spike : 5/26/2018 5:09 pm : link
was a movie made of thousands of hand colored paintings about the life and mysterious death of Vincent Van Gogh, narrated by those who knew him.

Very innovative. I wIsh I got to buy one of those colorings.
Florida Project

cute kids/irresponsible parents but ultimately not very memorable. Willem DaFoe was its saving grace.

Good move, because the first movie is about ten times better than the second, which treads in the B movie category by comparison.
What we do in the shadows
I'mRonBurgandy? : 5/26/2018 6:48 pm : link
was really funny, especially if you like Flight of the Conchords. It's a "mockumentary" about 4 vampires rooming together in a small New Zealand City.

I'm not a fan of the vampire genre but this was silly and fun.

Same director for Thor : Ragnarok (coming to Netflix in early June). Big fan
Wow. I thought Black Panther was fucking awful.

Unintentionally hilarious. I went in wanting to love it, but if I hadn’t been there with my daughter, I would have walked out. Brutally bad.
I rented The Post
BlackLight : 5/26/2018 10:42 pm : link
the other night - I thought that was pretty good. Meryl Streep's performance in particular.

she makes me laugh when she tries to act serious. No suspension of belief for me w/ her.

Agree. Not sure why they went that way.
Watched Mom and Dad the other night.

Horror starring Nic Cage and Selma Blair as parents trying to murder their kids following some kind of event that alters parental protective instincts towards their children. Had a lot of elements of dark comedy to it, very entertaining, Nic Cage at his crazy best.
I really didn't like
chopperhatch : 5/29/2018 7:40 pm : link
Black Panther. But I am in the extreme minority there.
Rented..
FatMan in Charlotte : 5/30/2018 8:37 am : link
"Downsized" with Matt Damon. I wish I could've shrunk the TV 10 minutes in and do something else.

Had a storyline that could've offered a lot of creative room and it seemed like 2 hours of no plot or resolution.
Has anyone seen Annihilation?
Grey Pilgrim : 5/30/2018 5:25 pm : link
Was just released on dvd/streaming.
