I thought I read earlier this season that no player has ever had 3 such games in a season.

0-4 with 4 strikeouts lets see if he can make it another 0-5 with 5 strikeout game for the third time in 2 months

Wasn’t he the first player to strike out 5 times twice in a week??? And he swings at pitches that bounce in the dirt
hoping chapman can slam the door here
Stros coming up...another tough series!
Series win against a quality baseball team.
Bloody nose series wins are important..

Agreed, kinda ugly baseball this weekend, but the positives are strong starts from Sevy and Tanaka, bullpen got the job done Friday and Sunday, and mostly smooth work in the field really helped.
Wrong, they scored 5 in the 9th to tie.
IDK, they seem to do better against the good teams..
i know, its scary to think the yanks are where they are having played such a tough schedule to this point...it will be nice when we have a couple cruise series against det, w sox, orioles

who was the better OF - Judge or Stanton. No question now.
Judge is so smooth and Stanton is awkward out there.
Nothing about Stanton has been as advertised so far this year. He looks uncomfortable in the field and at the plate. Testament to his talent that he has still produced but I really haven't enjoyed watching him.
I'm with you on this. He is incredibly frustrating to watch. The fact that he keeps on chasing that slider down and away when it's not even close is infuriating. Also, I don't gey the closed stance. He won an MVP and hit 59 home runs and hit .281 with a much more natural looking stance. Since changing to this one he looks like a relatively easy out to anybody with a tight slider. It's the same pitch Alfonso Soriano couldn't lay off in '03 playoffs.

He is throwing what looks like a 4 seam FB that "backs up" on lefties and a cut FB against righties. His 2 seamer is straight and hittable. He apparently has finally accepted that the 4 seamer is the way to go.
You can see hitters giving up on the pitch, recognizing it as a FB, but then looking VERY surprised when it cuts back into the strike zone.
This is an important change. If hitters have to respect the FB, they can no longer eliminate the splitter and sit on the breaking stuff. They are going to have to begin guessing whether he is throwing the straight 4 seamer, the backup 2 seamer or the splitter.
It also makes the slider/change more effective because they are generally on the same plane. Very interesting.
Normally 2 seamers run and 4 seamers go straight.
Correct. 2 seamers run and are generally a few mph slower. Really good ones are sinkers.
...needed starting pitching effort by Tanaka!
Whew!
That was a breath of fresh air for our starting rotation!!!
Watching Sanchez catch Chapman can give one a bad stomach.
