What the hell happened? Ever since that ball hit the ground against New England in February 2012, this team has been a laughing stock. One good season. 11-5 then our defense decided to take a nap on one play and then they gave GB the game.
What was the one game since the last time the Giants did anything relevant (super bowl 46) that got you going and still ticks you off to this date (may 28th, 2018)?
Oh yeah that's my answer: 2017 playoff game vs Green Bay. Only one who showed up to be big men in a big spot were Eli Manning and Will Tye haha
Wasn't that 2010?
Atlanta
New Orleans
New England
Jets
All of which were thrown away in disgusting fashion.
Nope. Once again same old shit, down in a hole 14-0 to the roar of those moron Philly fans. Reese should have been thrown out of the stadium head first for not being able to assemble a Giant team incapable of beating a substandard Philly team who hasn't won a playoff game in 10 years prior to this year.
Hell, 2 of Philly's wins every year got them to mediocre every year since 2008 thanks to the Giants incapability of sweeping them.
- The Giants would have clinched the NFC East despite hitting the wall late in the season
- RG III likely would have been able to rest after he hurt his knee and not try to force his back on the field, where he eventually blew it out and pretty much derailed his career.
- Kirk Cousins never sees the field and doesn't become one of the highest paid players in NFL history
So much went wrong after Hurricane Sandy for the Giants, but if they had won that game in Washington, they at least would have had a shot in the playoffs. After the 2012 season, the core of the 2007 team had officially died out and set the Giants off on to their malaise the past several seasons.
The giants LOOKED like the giants all night long. They had the game in their hands. Close game throughout some weird plays some flukes as usual but down the stretch the giants had this game in the palm of their hands. I remember thinking this is Eli and coughlin, defending champs, we fucking got this and at Philly no less, I was not scared in the least. Then on the last drive the giants got weird and turned to Ramses barden time and time again— weird plays weird penalties... don’t even remember the specifics only that they fucking blew it and the FG attempt fell just short.
That game right there and the outcome scared the crap out of me. We haven’t been the same since that season. Granted, the giants recovered from that game ended up winning some big road games after that but this game was a harbinger of things to come. They had no business losing that game.
Obviously they fire back out of the break and once again embarrass GB but may not have hurried Nicks and Phillips back had they not fumbled control of the division.
I think that team had a lot more to offer than the record shows, knowing that the defense openly admitted they were kind of dogging it until December, and the disruptive events going on in their back yard. We had really good specials, the defense forced a ton of TO's, and the running game - while still shaky situationally - was able to ice many games with big 4th quarter runs/drives.
I think that 18 month span from the '12 offseason (horrible draft) through the start of the '13 season was the major inflection point in what put the team where it is.
The pathetic thing is you, me, the Giants, Cowboys and everyone who died in World war 2 knew who the Cowboys were going to on that final play. #82.
Catch and touchdown
Totally agree. Game made me sick...

That Pitt game pissed me the fuck off.
Honorable mention: 2017 Week 3 against Philly. Had a chance to change the direction of the season with a big road win against a division rival after starting 0-2 but instead blew the game with stupid penalties and a bad Brad Wing punt. Also losing on a 61 yard field goal is no fun. This game sent both teams in completely opposite directions in the worst possible way.

..overlooked a lot but I'd say one is Pittsburgh in '12. Week after Sandy...team asked for absolutely no accommodation from the league and had a 10 point lead in the 4th with a chance to grab the division by the balls. Defense couldn't hold and the offense missed on a couple big plays late that could have iced it. Cruz takes a hit that I think altered the trajectory of his career. Let down spills into next week at Cinci and they again leave a bunch of points on the board in the 1st half and eventually cave.

The Pitt game was annoying, as was the Eagles game, and the blowouts by Atlanta and Baltimore. But again, none of it would have mattered if the Giants won in Washington. That game singularly killed the 2012 season because it gave the Redskins the tie breaker.
1st Philly loss brutal as well. It was the first time I really thought that the season wasn’t going to work out, but losing OBJ in SD was the final nail in the coffin.

I was at that game. What a piece of trash game. The weather was unbearable because it was muggy and humid. Two winless teams looking as pathetic as ever, lol. The crowd was so dead after that Eli Manning fumble. I knew they weren't going to drive down the field and win so I just left. Worst part too was I had to go to Philly where everything was delightful.
McAdoo didn't even give a shit OBJ got hurt right? Just looking at his useless dumb diner menu playbook.

Ugh ... If I remember correctly (doubtful these days) - Did TC chew his ass off right there on the field after that punt? Did Dodge ever play another down of Football in the league after that? It seems like he completely disappeared after that game ...
That was a game where the coaching staff and Eli snatched defeat out if the hands of victory.
I remember Beckham catching the ball inside the 4 yard line for a first down with little time left. I though they had won a huge game.
That one still stings.
I got into the Giants and family dinner "party" after game which made up for the hame.

That was the ‘15 season in a nutshell. Giants had similar games vs Saints, Pats, Jets, and Panthers that year. 6-10 could’ve been 11-5.
All Time - The 1970's
I knew the season was done at that point.
That was the last time I remember when, if the Giants got blown out it was actually surprising. The problems carried over into 2013 with Beatty being considered worthy of a starting LT role, which I never thought was a wise choice.
