Wasn't he considered incredibly awesome just a few years ago? It may have ended the year after they won the Super Bowl for some reason, maybe he wanted to get traded?
Just seems like a pretty rapid fall. From grace for a guy who was an absolute demon on the field during that Super Bowl run
In the end, Sirianni will somehow sabotage the whole thing. Defenses may have figured out Hurts. Zero concern about them getting to the Super Bowl next year.
Fuck ‘em.
If you check the Eagles contracts almost all of their players are getting the league minimum salary.
They are given large bonuses which are prorated over +/- (5) years.
You need an owner who is willing to spend a lot of money.
The Eagles by far and away spend more actual money than any team.
They do not allow the CAP to infringe on buying players.
With all of their spending, they still have $38 M left.
If you compare the Giant's contracts with the Eagles you will note that the bonuses are smaller, less guaranteed money, and the impact is proportional to the money spent. It is a balanced budget.
So the Giants have no money left despite having spent significantly less
You will also note that Kelsey and Cox are still shown on the roster. They will carry them and release them as post-June drops.

Every team gets the same limited cap and every dollar spent on a player ultimately gets counted against that same cap.
It's not as though the Giants don't use bonuses to spread significant money. Last year they gave Daniel Jones $46M in cash but only accounted for $15N in 2023 salary cap.
Jones's bill is coming due fast this year, because the Giants probably don't want to restructure him. And it limits what the Giants can spend in 2024.
The same is true of the money the Eagles spread forward. Ultimately it becomes due and limits spending in whatever cap year that happens to be.
I will not attempt to explain how the CAP gets maneuvered.
But if you view Jones's contract vs. Hurts it should become apparent Link - ( New Window )
I'm aware of the numbers.
Spotrac has a "Yearly Cash" column that is pertinent.
In 2023 and 2024, Eagles will give Hurts $64M in actual cash while Jones gets $82M from NYG.
If Jones makes it through all four years of his contract, he will get $160M in actual cash.
Jalen Hurts is scheduled to get $157M in actual cash for those same four years.
And, beyond the one-to-one comparison, the overall point remains: there is no escaping the fact that every dollar spent on a player has to ultimately count against the cap, which is the same for every team.
Hurts contract guarantees $110M and goes out to 2035.
There are 5 voidable years.
The cash is committed but the contract will never be fulfilled. It will be voided and renegotiated.
The money is spent but the CAP implications are pushed down the road until it is not.
There will be a reckoning.
See what is happening with Dallas and Dak.
It has caught up to Dallas as they believe that Dak is underperforming his contract. It appears that they are willing to take a $60M CAP hit this year.
Jones's contract has $81M guaranteed. All this is guaranteed within the four years of the contract. There are no voidable years.
This. They couldn't wait for him to leave

He wanted to get paid AND played poorly.
