From what I have seen, Bowers has all the tools to be the next Bavaro or Shockey. I don't think this team will go the route of TE at #6 though. That seems very early. Shockey was a #14 pick and Bavaro was even later than that I believe. Of course a #1 WR is a pressing need as well. And we all know that a new QB could be in play as well. So, it won't be Bowers, but I think he should be a possibility.

I can see a trade back to 12-14 and taking him there if he is available
Honest question - I know QBs, WRs are the "glamour" positions. Are 1st round tight ends paid the same ? Somebody "school" me, please.
I honestly see him as a bigger version of running back Christian McCafferey. Saquon just went out the door. We need a hard-nosed, physical, young answer to mitigate that loss.
They tried to triple team him, no cigar. He's too good.
Watch, also who gets the ball in the backfield, when they need short yardage. He's YAC terror, never-mind that he outruns CBs with that 4.5 speed at 240 pounds.
He's generational talent. Draft him Giants and don't look back.
Bower is a double whammy over any receiver they pick - All the receivers coming out stay tackled when they get hit. Bowers PUNISHES would-be tacklers who try to stop him (if they can catch him).
(I see Hyatt really turning it up this year because he's just learning how to play in the NFL).
Unfortunately we couldn't tell much his 1st year because DJ had about 1/10th of a second to throw the ball of a majority of his snaps. When Hyatt actually had some opprtunity, he looked good (the speed can not be denied)
Everyone is so enamored with Rome Odunze, however, I haven't seen anything I like better from him then I do Jalin Hyatt.
Marvin Harrison is the best player in this draft/Brock Bowers is the second best. Bowers absolutely DOMINATED the SEC from his Freshman year on-ward. He is one of the 1st round TE's that will actually live up to the hype, promise

With all the hype of these QBs everyone forgets how good MHJ and Bowers are
In the 25 year history of the John Mackey Award ....
(Given to the most outstanding College Tight End), nobody has ever won it twice, except for Bowers won won it three times (first time as a FRESHMAN).
He played at Georgia (twice National Champions, when he was there). As you can Imagine, they always had a big bull's eye on their backs, (especially Bowers who very often was THE best player on the field.
How many times can you say that of any player ? The last time I've seen a player like that was Nebraska's Ndamukong Ngwa Suh.
Choice between the three top WRs and a TE? - going with any one of the three WRs...
What if he's better then Travis Kelce?
No TE is better than a #1 WR. Love Kelce and what he does. But if it comes down to Bowers or Odunze/Nabers, I am taking the one of the WRs.
What are you talking about. A stud tight end is better than having a stud wr. It’s not even debatable. It changes the way the defense plays entirely. You can’t roll coverages to a tight end. It’s very difficult. The tight end occupies the middle of the field and demands attention from linebackers and safeties. Most linebackers can’t cover a tight end therefore a team would need a freak of nature safety or linebacker to have a chance 1v1. Yeaaaa I’ll take Gronk and Kelce over the stud WR any day of the week. A stud tight end should be able to block as well which also helps the run game. I can’t believe I’m arguing this
Regarding positional value, both teams in the recent Super Bowl
Yes, they both had top tight ends, however, you can't say they had top WR's.. 49er's had better receivers, however, not elite (like Tyreek Hill or Jamar Chase)
This team has a lot more pressing needs that will be a better fit at #6 than TE.
I can see a trade back to 12-14 and taking him there if he is available
He's a gold jacket type player (THREE Mackey Awards - best college tight end).
He can block, catch passes, run the ball like bulldozer. I'd even play him at fullback
The Giants will have 2 #1 WR to chose from....

Does anyone here need more proof of what a bad pick Bower would be than a Manny endorsement?
1. Nabers
2. Odunz
3. Bowers
That said, #6 is way too high to pick one. Somewhere in the low teens, like Shockey.

As an on-the-line TE, laws of physics make it unlikely.
Have no idea how good this player is, seems to be some feeling out there that he is a better player than the big 3 WRs.

Bowers is the real deal. Giants won't get him, but somebody will
and he'll be a contributor right away...great talent
While TE is a need, it doesn’t meet the positional value at 6 with all the other players available.
I would take him at #6 and not look back
I would take him at #6 and not look back
agreed...in fact MHJ is the only guy Id trade up for

Same thing, MHJ is going to be unbelievable..

in the draft. Truly a WTF are you thinking pick.

What if he’s better than maybe the greatest receiving tight end of all time? I’ll take the other side of that and give you 100x odds :)
Waller doesn’t fit that mold, which is another reason that experiment was peculiar.
"Hope the Giants don't see this" !

His YAC ability is unbelievable.

He is a TE... an excellent prospect, but still a TE.

a high pick for a TE. But I contend Bowers is one of the five best prospect/talents in this draft.

He is. And he's a monster.

Was he touched by the hand of god though?
I suspect this regime is looking for playmakers. If TE is the best playmaker on the board, so be it, they’ll pull the trigger.
