Me too. Focus on OL and front 7. I like the OL signings. Neither is a star, but they are solid. I think this helps Neal settle and the OL goes from bottom 5 to middle of the pack. This should be good enough to compete.
Middle of the pack OL-what a breath of fresh air after 12 years of dead last huh?
He was an early 3rd round pick who struggled with injuries both years. He played well at times and poorly at times. I'm guessing he's still in the mix. Also wonder if we see him taking some snaps at center in camp.
Fair enough, but that's it. The only reason he's getting that month is because of where he was drafted and the poor coaching with the NYG before on the OL. Nothing should stop the Giants from drafting a solid RT if they see one on the board in about 6 weeks, especially in a draft rich with OTs.
RE: Unless Neal shows miraculous improvement in training camp,
I think Jermaine E should be the RT. Neal should get a shot at RG and work on being the swing tackle. Runyon should play LG and the 4+ other guards can battle it out for depth or RG if Neal can’t cut it.
Having a 6’ 7” guard doesn’t bother me if the QB is 6’ 4” or more.
actually said he would like to play RG in order to settle down both JMS and Neal.
And that is one of the keys when evaluating Neal’s play - how much bette would he look with a functional RG next to him? I think many discount how much that impacts an OT’s play.
I will not be surprised if the Giants draft at RT with their 2nd pick
Sometimes a person can’t rewire themselves to Stop being right handed, for example, and become left handed efficiently.
Neal Was a Left Tackle and wired as such.
Again, if true, and if he can adapt to LG even just average that’d be a powerful left side of the line.
And ,if necessary…we hope not…if AT was out for any reason, sliding to LT , even if #3 in the depth chart there, brings him back to where he was comfortable .

If Neal is part of the package that would cost us another draft pick or two to take him off our hands.
Stop
OT is on the table in the draft, early IMO.

I've got no problem with that whatsoever.

Yup
And then they paid his protege Eluemunor who happens to ply RT……
Plan A fix Neal
Plan B Eluemunor replaces him
