Regardless of whether you think D Jones had talent or not, the team/ownership drafted him at #6 (or was it 8 as I have 6 on the brain) as they thought he had what it takes. He clearly had the size speed good arm and good touch. And he was tough as sh!t for anyone who also saw him play at Duke. He was also a humble Eli clone. Bottom line, ownership LOVED him.
Ownership also thinks they failed him. They have even made public statements to that effect.
So why do we think we will take a QB now whim isn’t one of the top 2 in the draft? We don’t know what our OL is, we are one alpha WR away from a good starting core. Our RB is a decent rental.
Our D-line is great and young. Our secondary is 2 pieces away.
Get the alpha WR and see what kind of OL we have before we put a rookie QB in place. Maybe Jones recovers. Maybe he doesn’t. If he doesn’t, the team sux and we are drafting high again with a very young solid team with more foundational support pieces in place. Ownership knows we set Jones up to fail regardless of his talent. They won’t make the same mistake twice. Look at how we are building a young defensive line and trying to fix the OL.
Just a thought.
This is a goddamn cult.
If you are hoping that the WR makes the QB, you've made a wrong turn.
DJFC is not descriptive enough.
No, these people are DJD. Daniel Jones Disciples.
“People mock what they don’t understand “. I will leave at that. Have a great day!

why was this thread necessary given the number of threads that are exactly the same from this afternoon alone.

DJD alert
I love this board.

I used to say they were part of the Jones Uber Alles crowd, but DJFC stuck
- he is a massive injury risk and has failed to stay healthy.
- he is the 10th highest paid player in the league. He would need a 30td / 4K season to even consider retaining him at the number. It’s not happening.
There is no reasonable argument to move forward with him. No other nfl team has treated the qb position like this. Move on.

I appreciate the sentiment. If Schoen and co decide to not trade up and one of the top 4 isn't within reasonable reach, then this will be the play plus maybe a move for a lower tier prospect (I like pennix). There's nothing wrong with building the core. We really can't afford to trigger DJ's injury clause though. We need a rookie contract qb to effectively build the team, it's simple math. He has become very injury prone and his biggest issue has always been the problem: his lack of skill with pre and post snap vision. It's quite a simple downfall and probably one for many solid to backup level qbs whom will never be elite.
And if year 7 doesn't work, we always have years 8 and 9 to get the Oline and receivers right before we re-sign him.
It is very important to remember that no player has ever not been a bust - teams have always just failed very good players.
Don’t bring up the injury guarantee it’s a silly argument and has been discussed.
Some say draft a QB no matter what it costs? Really? There is always a walk away cost or should be
So who is your answer at QB and what cost are you willing to pay? I like Maye the most but only like him at 6, no trade up
Who is the guy you absolutely don’t want? I don’t want JJM
I don’t feel like any of them are top tier prospects. They may turn out to be great. If the Giants get one at 6 so be it. If they pass hopefully they get the best WR. We will be a better team in 2024 with a WR than a QB.
Billionaire's only take love for non-family memeber so far. After that it comes down to money.
There's a reaosn why they are billionaires. Jones is on his last leg whther ti be thisyear or next. No reaosn to think why it can't be this year.
He's making it up to fit his narrative.
But his play never got as good as it was in his rookie year. 2022 was a nice surprise, but even that was highly flawed once defenses figured him out.
Add in the injuries, and it's very obvious Jones' time is either already over or very near.
This has nothing to do with seeing him before Schoen was here. I really don’t see the GM and HC suddenly reversing their belief after 5.5 games
The only caveat is they know his health situation more than we do

I think it's fair to say they were not sold on Jones when they were hired, hence the 5YO being declined. Obviously things changed with the playoff win. I'm thinking this year confirmed their initial assessment on Jones and that's why they're having buyer's remorse.
